Thought I would share this helpful tip.

The screws that secure the trucks to older Mantua/Tyco freight cars (and other parts to locos, etc) are unique... and seemingly impossible to replace if lost. I've encountered a number of cars where people have substituted different screws, to various effect. And actually had cars missing trucks... and spare trucks to give them, but no comfortable way to attach said trucks.

Well, I found out what size you can use.

The diameter is a metric M2 size, and the thread pitch from the X4 and X6 seem to match perfectly.


So I bought a number of M2x4 screws at a hardware store. They're just a little longer than OEM but fit perfectly (they did not have any shorter sizes). You may need to add a small washer (also available with the screws) on some trucks.

The big-box hardware chains like Lowes, Home Depot, etc are unlikely to have these. Best bet is your small-time hardware stores like True Value, Do It Best, independents, etc.
