I'm sure we already have enough topics about traction tires on this forum, but has anyone ever seen anything like this?
I took one of my C430's off the shelf today and found that the traction tires had melted!! I picked it up and they were literally OOOOOZING all over the track the engine was sitting on. I took the wheels out and gave them a good scrubbing, but it didn't do much. I ended up replacing the wheels...not sure what to do about the track yet O_o
 yummy...
See those dark spots?...ya...thats melted elastic...
Anyone ever seen this before? FYI, I think the "tires" on this engine were dental elastics, and it had been sitting for a few months.

What a Cheez-y mess you have there.
But seriously, I've only ever seen that much gunk inside an old Life-Like Geep. I think the previous owner tried lubricating it with Vaseline?

I tried to warn you guys about the dental bands last year. I was able to remove the ones on my locos before they turned into a gooey mess. I told ya so.

Huh...must of missed that I guess I'll go through my engines tomorrow and find the ones with the dental elastics. Its kinda sad since they seem to work so well at first.
MM: HAH! I wish it was cheez
And Gareth, I've had many things melt in my parents car...hotwheels cars, mcdonald's toys...but never a train

Shaygetz, that's just plain disturbing...
I've tried to warn people away from dental rubber bands. They soak up oil and turn to that goo you've got there, Cheez. Try soaking those wheels in 90% alcohol, and using it on the rails as well.

What a Goopy Mess!! Try some Goo-Gone on those tyco wheel sets. Let them soak in it. Goo-Gone is a great gunk remover. It will remove about anything and clean it too. I bought some at Wal-Mart a long while back.

uh, maybe he wanted to get a grip on his speech? No?
John p.s. I agree with NickelPlate759... about both, the alcohol and the disturbing picture...
I don't have a one track mind. It depends on the turn-out. "I love your catenary!" Is that a power-trip or just another pick-up line?

Hey Cheez monster:
Those traction tires you sent me way back, what were they from? Not the infamous teeth tighteners I hope!? Never used them they are in an envelope in my model tool box...

Hey Gareth. They were made from hair elastics. You shouldn't have any problems :)
