I have total rebuilt my vintage 1975-76 Chattanooga 2-8-0. When I bench test it the motor runs great. When I put it on the track it will run for a foot or two stop sit a couple of seconds run for a few inches stop sit another few seconds run and stop. I have cleaned and rebuilt the motor, fixed the drive train and cleaned the wheels. I am trying to run it on Bachmann track. All my other engines run fine puilling 12 to 15 cars. My Chattanooga can not even pull herself around the track. What am I missing?

Christopher - are the truck wheel cradles clean -free of rust? sometimes these get a little corroded it prevents good electrical pick-up. Are you using nickel silver track or steel Bachmann? Try cleaning track if you haven't.

The Chattaonoogas have lousy pickup on the tender with only two conductive wheels. If you have a spare set of diesel wheels, you can swap the traction tire equipped plastic wheels on the pickup side out for metal ones.

And as Brian said, also check the axles and axle bearings for dirt, rust, or dried grease.
