All Tyco and no Athearn makes for a dull time! Heres a little variety as my LotW.

I'll bite on the non Tyco theme. Here's an IHC 2-8-2 Reading I've had for sometime. I remotored it after the original can motor went up in smoke. Recently ( 2 days ago ) I added a smoke unit and DCC. I wired ath DCC to control the smoke unit. Tom

That's a great idea Tom, no more running at full throttle to get some smoke, huh?
My LotW is this Tyco GP20.

I'm just showing it because it is the loco I'll use in the kitbash contest. I'm not offering any clues as to what it'll become, but I thought I'd show what I'm starting with.

Hey Matt, The smoke does come on right away, although I did snap that picture after the loco came to a stop.

Here's the "taunted memory" locomotive from my "First/Chirstmas Trainset" story in that other thread:

Lionel GP30 from 1976/77, part of the "Burlington 181" set.
(The Greenberg Guide to Lionel HO has a few discrepancies about that set... it states that all the contents were later Kader production (in other words, "Not actual Lionel! The outrage!!") but mine clearly has Lionel-tooled cars, and an early GP30 with the cast lead slug weight. Maybe that set was around a couple years longer than before my own memory of it.)

Ah, we have so much in common. I've managed to get my hands on 3 of these shells and already have 2 powered. These were a special edition release from Athearn. The engine came with two gondolas, not sure of date of release. I've had mine for 5 years now, so it's least that long ago.

Hi everybody. I'm dealing with a new computer, new software, but an old camera. The newer one is messed up. I think I got these sized right, but I apologize if they're not. I'm also shooting them on a temporary tabletop layout, so not much to look at.
Somebody please correct me if I'm wrong. I think this is an Athearn PA1. I rescued a powered A and dummy B and A units from a $5 box under a table. Runs great...all I had to do was replace two horns.

I wondered if you'd get around to posting this engine in LotW. Good Show!

Hi All,
Nice stuff! I really like the Athearn PA.
Brianstyco, What did you use for the strobe light? Did you make it or buy it?
Thanks Mike

I just received these 3 items ( and the transformer cars as well ). Neither the Virginian nor the silver Tyco switcher runs well, although both appear fairly clean and little used, but wheels DO need cleaning on both. The red Tyco Mantua Burlington tries to run, but it's in fits and starts. Got the whole deal for $10 plus shipping. I like the metal railings on the red Burl, looks far better than the usual black plastic types. I'll have to clean up all 3 to see if they'll run better, or at all. I have another partial set of the silver Transformer boxcar and caboose, minus engine. Thought they were neat. I really bought the items for the 4301 Virginian parts, but the others are a bonus for the price. :)
