Ben,

I know a little 'bout the MOW equipment sold by Mantua as kits and by Tyco as ready to run. The set I have is the NYC MOW. But it is missing the derrick car also. I'm going to post the info I have with pictures soon, maybe this weekend.

If you can't fix it with a hammer, you've got an electrical problem.

I believe Mantua/Tyco made four MOW sets: Pennsy, Reading, NYC and Union Pacific.

Union Pacific and NYC did not have derrick cars or tunnel clearance cars, I don't believe. NYC had flat cars with water barrels or bridge girders. They all had bunk cars. Not sure if they all had floodlight cars. Reading also came with a hopper car. There was also a Denver and Rio Grande and Western Maryland derrick car that didn't go to a particular set. They were all made in the late 50s and early 60s.

I think the NYC and UP had yellow booster engines. Pennsy and Reading had big six engines. Not 100% sure on everything. I have a Reading set that I pieced together.

Just checked...

NYC and UP DID have derrick cars. My mistake!

The "Minute Man" set came with a black NYC Booster engine, yellow flat car with barrels, derrick car, yellow gondola and bunk car. (1959)

The "Gandy Dancer" set came with a yellow UP Booster engine with snow plow, yellow flat car with barrels, derrick car, yellow gondola and bunk car. (1959)

The "Road Builder" set came with a UP Plymouth Yard Diesel, a gondola, derrick car, flat car with girder and bunk car. (1960)

UP also had a floodlight car kit and NYC may have had one also.
