Alco Fan, the car isn't a Johnny Rocket is it? From the scale I'd say no, but it looks close enough I had to ask! Nice loco BTW!

Very nice Alco Ray. I need to do one like that, do you run it often?
The car is a Mini-Metals '60 Ford Fairlane, Chris.

Here's a Tyco Santa Fe. This one came in an ebay lot with two Athearns. It's a little funny...it has athe MU-2 drive, but screws instead of rivets to hold it together. I think it's newer a model.

Last week someone mentioned Super Chief. Here's the Tyco pulling my Super Chief train of Athearn streamliners. I'll admit I usually use an Athearn super heavyweight for this, but the Tyco can handle it.

I've tried to get pictures of this passenger train, but it's too big to get anything good.

Alco Fan: I love the CR geep. Bev-Bel seemed to be the "stuff" back 15-20 years ago. When decals were hard to find and custom work was not as widely done as it is today. I bought LOTS of Bev-Bel items from a place in Model Railroad Craftsman that used to have a 4 page spread every month. It was called MRPO (Model Railway Post Office). The first page and a half was mostly custom run Bev-Bel and they seemed to always release a lot of Chessie System items. Some of it was nice but some really was poorly done. Their R&D dept. I think dropped the ball a lot of times.
taycotrains: How does that big beast run? Here within the last year or 2 I have begun to appriciate a good steam locomotive more and more. I'm yet do buy any because I dont have the space for the large radius's some require. Looks like you need to run her and blow some of that dust off....lol Mine would be on display too if I had one.....she's a beaut...

Carl, I love the locomotive man! GP-30's are one of my top 3 all time favorite locomotives. The other 2 would be the SD-40-2's and the GP-40-'s.......I love the husky, classic look of the GP-30's. They were good for switching because they had a "super load" feature on them and when you toucjed the throttle those babies would load right up (unlike a GE's which are real slugish).

Has anyone tried to DCC one of these original-powered locos? I found several of these C-430 Alco shells in a junk box, and they're translucent, I want to build a Ghost Train ( my last name is Casper, see.... ), and then I discovered I had a Bicentennial train with the same shell/chassis. My "ghost" runs decent with the bi chassis, needs some cleaning though. I also found a more more modern Proto 1000 ? chassis, slim, that "may" slip into the shell with some judicious file work. If so, I can have the old style shell with modern running gear. Problem with modern shells is, they're opaque plastic, so light won't shine thru them, even if they were painted and stripped. The older shells were made of various plastics, so it's somewhat easier to find see-thru plastics on those. Anyway, if anyone has DCC'ed the older chassis, let me know. Gremlingts@yahoo.com
