I got the notion to make something unusual. My low budget shortline R.R. has to make do with the off-scouring of the big roads. We needed a switcher; so a defunct RS-2 was cut up. One truck was available from a derelict PA-1 with no prime mover.
I picked up an AHM RS-2 shell at a train show for $2.00. Cut it to make a switcher engine. The truck is from an Athearn PA-1. There is much work to be done. I am in the process of milling a custom frame in plastic, with some brass pieces here and there. Unspoken expectations are premeditated failures.

NIIIIIIICE! I had not thought of doing that kind of chop-job on an RS-2. I have been doing a similiar job with a Bachmann H16-44 shell. Got the idea from Ray. Saw his "infant trainmaster" and just had to give it a go. My shell will ride on an Athearn Trainmaster 3-axle truck. Here is how far I've gotten so far. Far from finished. Still need to come up with an easy to do frame. I'll probably just cut down an Athearn TM frame for now.
