Since it's 5:02 pm and no one has posted I think I'll start. This was a train show purchase. I like the huge herald on the high nose.

Here's one I picked up Friday at a toy/hobby shop in Omaha, Nebraska. It only cost me $3.95 because the sticker said it wouldn't run. After pulling some fuzz out of the gears and fixing a loose wire, it's running pretty good.

I don't know much about it. I can't find anything similar online. It says RSO A test underneath. I assume the little conductor person has been added, but I'm not going to do anything to him until I find out for sure. Anybody recognize this?

By the way...is there any "etiquette" for starting a LOTW thread. I was waiting for someone else to do it. Also, I know this is a TYCO forum, but we can show off other brands, can't we?

I'm not a rule maker but I'd rather show my Tycos and see Tycos but last week My post was an Athearn F7A and B unit that I bought with this weeks LotW and I have posted others that weren't Tyco. Ususally we start on Sundays.

Just to drive the LotW TYCO purists nuts, my Bachmann GP40...still carrying the skeletal remains of its "little conductor person"

...from a barn lot I got last year. Yes, it has since been deconductored...

I've got one exactly like that, Shaygetz. It came from an antique store that was going out of business. Funny thing...it ran fine on my layout, but wouldn't pull anything on my daughter's layout. I had to add a bunch of weight.

What is the problem with your GP40 ?
Is it the Gears or the Armature?
I am working on a fix for the cracked reduction gears. It is in the testing stage at the moment.
I got one at the last show, I'll have to get a photo of it.

Mine needs the throttle cracked wide open to run, it sounds like the proverbial blender and the lighting in the cab makes it look like it's in fire...other than that, it's a fine machine

As Alco Fan said, Sunday usually declares the time start a new LoTW thread (same with CoTW). Just keep the title in the same format so everything looks ok in the forum view! Tyco's obviously get to be favored when showing off. But TONS of other makes have popped up and usually we all enjoy it. Which is really nice because its probably my favorite part of the site. Just seeing random bits of people's collections week after week, always something new. Probably the only place on the net where you'll see a new Rapido appear in the same thread as a old Varney and everyone likes them both.

I was hoping a CP collector might tell me something about this one. I can't even find a picture of it online.

I understand the idea of keeping the focus on Tyco, and I would love to do that, but I don't actually own that many of them yet. It seems to me that it's better for us to discuss other makes than to not discuss anything at all. There's a lot of really great older HO stuff out there that has been overlooked in this era of super-detailed DCC realism.

Here's an old Varney 2-8-0 I rebuilt for Gareth.
I just have to add the headlight and marker jewels.

No, The jewel just reflects light.
Here's a photo of a John English Yard Bird with a jewel headlight.

Your guess is as good as mine...we figured the boxes were in the barn a minimum of 5-6 years. All we know was that it was a skeleton and it made for a really cool pic...

Hi All,

I don't have anything new. But I do have one of those Bachmann 866 engines. Mine runs good. It's amazing what a difference a little paint makes.

Nice stuff guys!
