Hello folks, and congratulations on this very informative, friendly, and well-run society. My name is Lee, and I recently rekindled my interest in model railways (HO, after a 25yr hiatus!) after being made redundant...too familiar a story 'round these parts, don't you know? Looking on the bright side, I reckon the lay-offs and "downsizing" we have all seen might just be doing the hobby some good. In my case, since I've more time on my hands, I am able to do things I had to give up years ago.
I realise returning to the hobby after so long has me playing catch-up, and I am so intrigued with DCC, the availability of very accurate models, new techniques in detailing and construction, &c, so I will try to keep my astonishment to a minimum. On the main, the MR hobby seems to have declined, losing share to RC; however, there are so many advances in the past quarter-century, that I feel today just as I did when I received my first locomotive, an Athearn Southern Pacific Daylight Alco PA-1.
I became interested in the Tyco marque and purchased my first (off the dreaded eBay) just a few months back. Since then, I have continued to peruse the offerings there, and at my LHS. I am now tweaking my modeling techniques and will share my efforts soon. I would like to jump into the forums full-bore but my digital camera belonged to my previous employer. As funds are tight, I may have to borrow. Thanks for reading, I look forward to posting more soon! Cheers...
