** Here , a photo of the Frankford Roundhouse storage tracks right now. Things are always changing there. * A B&O EM1 ( AKAIN ), a PRR FA1 (HObbyline), a PR AS616 (Stewart), A PRR SD9 (Lifelike) and GP7 (Athearn), Then on the furthest track to the right, seen is a CNJ I5 2-8-0 camelback ( scratchbuilt ) waiting to get a inside stall to complete a rebuild. * The EM1 is waiting for a repair of its lead truck. The FA has been sitting on a side track in Germantown (Long Valley) that was closed due to a damaged tressel. Now repaired it needs a basic servicing. the next 3 AS616, sd9, and Gp7 are in ready condition waiting for assignment. The I5 is waithing for space taken up by a CNJ I4 being built. The pair is meant to be released to service together.

The old basement layout photos. The round house area.
Here is the car repair shops behind the roundhouse.
Here is what happens when I tried to put the 2 photos together. Buildings became lifted, and twisted. Track twisted lifted and turned. Locomotives and cars look like they were steped on. There must have been a earthquake or something.

Frank, You do know, that the B&O only had one of the GP18's, right? They hated them, and only got one at the time of delivery from EMD due to issues with their electricals, and a soft crank in the prime mover.......The road number was 6599......Whats the road number on the 2 you have pictured? I have the Proto-2000, B&O 6599.......Thought I'd pass along some history!

Frank, We all make mistakes! (I didn't even catch till your last posting that you called them GP20's! I just knew what they were the minute I seen them, as I have one of my own!
Crazy thing is, when the B&O and C&O merged, the GP18, that you have pictured as a model, didn't last into the "Chessie" era! It was scrapped, long before "Chessie" was even thought up in a paint scheme!
This is the real life modeling as a real railroad enthusiast goes.....HOWEVER, with alittle "Modeler's Licence" I painted an old AHM model of the GP18 high nose, into Chessie coors, with B&O reporting marks, AND the B&O 6599 road number......
IF my history of the B&O serves me right, and the hospital didn't remove that section of my brain....The B&O had the first GP18 numbered 6599, to have it follow behind the GP9's of the time period, and if they liked them, it would flow into the 6600 number series to give the EMD lass of GP18, its own number sequence. Hence 6600, from the old 6599 number.....
INSTEAD, they had 6600 as GP9's that were still being offered at the time, having the GP18 as EMD seen it, as a GP9 upgrade, and newer power. BUT, the GP18 never really caught on, as I believe, the EMD GP20 sold more units then the GP18 did.....

Hey Frank, For some reason, I believe this is the first time I've seen your layout page(s). They were/are very enjoyable; and informative. That's like a museum quality train collection. Now if you add a few hundred (a thousand?) little people, things could get pretty surrealistic. Merry Christmas! Barry

Well this thread is 4 years and 2 months long. You can see the layout is 2 loops to run trains on. It is set up to take the same pictures over and over again. Every other year I run the old timers at Christmas. They were out last year. I would like the CNJ and other local steam to run soon. frank

A lot of the articulates have gone and a few others that haven't been seen in a while are at the roundhouse. frank
A pair of CNJ USRA leased 2-8-0 that were destine for France in WW1 have been working the Frankford branch recently. If you have the information, you will find that USA 663 and 665 were leased to the CRRofNJ for a short period in 1918. Also the Rivarossi 2-8-0 is very close to that particular type locomotive.

* I must be looking at a different layout . My layout is not big. At least I don't think so. The roundhouse area, loco service area and yard are about 3/4 of the layout. The rest is downtown and the station area. I wish I had other places to take photos. I keep repeating the same spots just with other equipment. * I am glad, and do appreciate that you like it. At least I can share something we you. I did a little more with the 4-4-0 camelback I am building. Looking forward to next Sunday at the Clark train show. C U Latter. frank

Yes that's what I love about train shows. It's not the prices because I usually more than make up for the savings by money spent on travel to the things. It's all the things you might find there, most unexpected. I go to shows with a list of wants but rarely if ever get what's on the list, but rarely am I disappointed. Each one is a treasure hunt

I've seen the older style 0-6-0 (the one in the back) at a train show one time for $15 last year in working condition and I didn't get it for some reason.I'm still kicking myself for not getting it along with the Rivarossi streamlined Hudson in 20th Century Limited livery.
