I was going through a box of old HO cars this week... mostly junk... but at the bottom I found this old gal! Not only had I forgotten about the loco but I had forgotten about the project that spawned it.

About 1904, the Susquehanna and New York RR (S&NY) bought a Baldwin 4-4-0 to haul thier passenger train. The little steamer ran two round trips a day from Williansport, Pa to Towanda, Pa until the mid 1930's. It was estimated that she had run 2 million miles in that time. Besides a combine for the mail and a coach for the drummers and locals she sometimes had a stray box car in tow. It was old timey short line railroading at it's finest!

The project, to recreate the train, got set aside abruptly, when the folks I worked for called me away for a few months that turned into a few years. Finding this little gem makes this the loco of the week for me...

That's a beaut, Loopy. Is that an early Mantua kit? Would it take a Pittman motor?

According to Wikipedia's entry on the S&NY, that would have been the 113, which they bought in 1907, and scrapped in 1934. They sure got their money's worth out of her.

Yeah, I got one of those little engines, but it's red and silver, and lettered for Santa Fe. Still runs too!

Nice little steam locomotive Shagy! How does it run? I had a IHC Mogul and it ran like a dream.

Can't take any credit...it's a bone stock model from IHC. I bought it to go with some shorty Varney heavyweights I have in Pennsy maroon.
