Here's a Tyco Mikado I've been working on this week. I bought it as a kit sometime ago at a train show. I've added a can motor and a Digitrax DZ125 decoder. Still needs a little paint matching but so far a decent runner.

Thanks Microbusss, the cabinets are from sfdisplays.com, I think that's the address. Either Alco Fan or Brians Tyco recommended these cabinets on the forum.

Hehe, a can motor & decoder in a Tyco. Looks good though eaglerock, I've been thinking of picking up one of the old Tyco Mikados just for a fun project. Seems like it would be a good base to make something interesting out of.

BTW you really have to post your layout sometime. I was looking at the larger shot and started of focus on the "XXX" in the background and started laughing!

The Mantua/Tyco Mikados are a good starting point for a project.
I've built a couple already and have another in progress.
I don't have any photos of it yet but it has a Cary USRA boiler, a gear box from Yardbird Classic Trains and a can motor.
The last photo is the chassis from #42. It has a scratch built gear box.
