I am sure some or most of the regular forum members remember this thread from last week...
http://www.tycoforums.com/tyco/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=7117
I guess it was easy to figure out that the new member was just trying to figure out a fair price for these trains in order to get the best price to sell them.
I looked at the posters profile and saw that she is female and lives in Milford Pa
I had sent the new member a message telling her that if she wanted to sell the trains I would be willing to buy them and that I would be staying in Bangor Pa on Friday night and would be willing to come to Milford to purchase them for cash.
As it turned out she never responded to my offer and I just chalked it up as "not meant to be"
The reason I was to be in Bangor this weekend was for my other hobby and was going to the 38th Annual ANTIQUE GAS ENGINE & TRACTOR SHOW . I collect antique garden tractors and display a 1956 Ford truck .
They also have a huge flea market area and I walked it with my son on Friday and purchased some motor parts and other things I would use out in the garage.
We were getting ready to pack up our display on Saturday and we decided to hit the flea market one last time and we walked by a table and I said to my son..."Oh my God look at all that red box Tyco down at the end of that guys table" !!!
Once I got close to the trains it took me about 2 seconds to realize this was the same trains that I saw in the posting from earlier in the month.
I asked the seller how much he wanted for a particular item and he went on to explain he wanted to sell everything as a lot...and much to my surprise he wanted exactly what I had offered the lady originally.
I told him the story about how I wanted to buy the trains but never got a answer from her and he went on to explain how he knew the lady and how he got the trains.
After I paid him for the stuff he said "it was just meant to be that you get these trains".
I have been collecting trains for 28 years and never saw a deal come down like this !

Well at least you got the stuff in the end! Say, your red box collection must be massive, huh?
You seem to find all the old Tyco sets at yard sales and flea markets!

Cool story. I guess it doesn't matter how you got the trains, as long as you got them
I really need to hit more flea markets...my luck has never been great, but I did find a pair of Tyco RI sharks at one in SC a couple years ago

This sounds like a subplot from Lost -- those trains found you! It's what the island wanted.
So are we going to see any pictures?

Hey Guys the pictures are here....
http://www.tycoforums.com/tyco/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=7117
They where posted by the original owner in the above thread.
As a side note the HO Plasticville is all complete in its original boxes.
All of the trains are in excellent condition but are a bit of a "mish mosh"
The freight set # on the side of the box is T6720A-2498 .
I cannot for the life of me find any info on what comprises that set. The set box is a late 60s style box with the metal clamped ends but the trains are from the early to mid 60s era.
The Santa Fe set # is eligible on the side of the mid 60s white box (the one with the father and son looking at the oncoming train)
The best I can make out is T66108 3278 "The Transcontinental"
I cannot find any info on the set in the 1966 catalog.
Those white type set boxes are a bit of a running gag around this house we call them "Billy Sets" because if you look at the picture of that kid he is a dead ringer for my son Billy. /tyco/forum/uploaded/taycotrains/633andjacktown163.jpg
I know the freight set is "suspect" of being wrong and how those trains landed up in the wrong box from the original owner is something that I will never find out.
My friend always says it best..."until this stuff learns to talk we will never know it history or origins"

Tayco,
Is that long box with the armature pics on it full of motors, as the seller implied?
