I know traction tires have been covered, but I've never seen this question asked. All power torque motors use the same traction tires don't they? it shouldn't matter if the power torque is in a 430/630/sd24/ect or a Chattanooga 0-8-0 tender drive with a power torque motor, they all use the same tires. Why does Stewart offer traction tires for the Chattanooga tender driven steam engines if their all the same?

You're right that they're all pretty much universal. The only different ones I know of are for the MU-2 motor... the diameter is the same but the width is narrower on the MU-2's (I think they're also round instead of flat).
As for Stewart's lack of marketing, I'd guess this is just a pure oversight on their part. Changes are they don't give Tyco a second thought... BUT the Chattanooga steamers were numerous and still perversely popular. Most likely enough people came calling with "I'm trying fix my old Chattanooga" so they responded to the demand, not realizing the expanded market they could advertise for.

There is a slight difference in the width of the Stewart tires. I've stopped using the ones that are said to be used on PT motors. Instead I use the ones for the Chattanooga steamers, they fit better, and tend to have less wobble.
