I need to get at the Valve Gear Assembly to tighten the Valve Gear Screw but I am having a h-ll of a time trying to get the shell off. (Actually the back 3/4 of the shell will come off, but then the side shells are still on
The Loco has the can motor, so the 'HO Seeker' exploded views are too old.
The motor, gearbox & a weight sit over the chassis.
There is 1 bolt up through the cylinder block & two up into the ashpan area at the back.
But something is holding the whole thing together in the region of the gearbox.
Anyone know the trick to taking this one apart?
Thanks
Tanked

I've never owned one of those newer Rossi Pacifics. Is it possible that one of the screws for the axle cover goes up into the boiler? That was the setup on my Bachmann SY Mikado, and it had me stumped for a long time.

Thanks Nelson.
Nope, but there is a screw under the middle axle that doesn't go into the boiler system, & another back near the drawbar. Even with them out it feels like the side shell parts are sticking around the gearbox. I think I will throw this one into Trains & see if I can't flush out someone who has demolished one. Its the messiest disassembly I have come across to date. Give me the 2-8-8-2 anytime.

When I got the one I have it was already disassembled.
I am pretty sure that the motor and gearbox have to be removed to get the lower half of the boiler off.
