Three scratched up passenger cars came with the Tyco stash someone gave me, and I decided to letter them to run with the Santa Fe F7, which was in reasonably good shape. But three cars didn't seem to be much of a passenger train, so a bought a dome (posted elsewhere) and an Athern diner, which is a close approximation to the ATSF lunch counter cars.

But at nearly 10", the (72-foot) Athern diner didn't look quite right with the shorter Tyco cars, so I got out my razor saw and took off about 5/8". If you look closely, you can see where I glued the ends back on after the surgery, but hopefully that isn't the first thing you notice. The splice in the frame was made so the seam is under a door added to the skirting. Also, to make it more compatible with the Tyco, I ran off some silhouettes on my office laser printer.

In this picture, the diner is the top car, with the Tyco coach underneath. Probably not really worth the effort to take off just 5/8", but I am happier with it now.
