If your loco has lost headlight you can use a LED. a LED needs a resistor. the resistor has to be connected with the longer wire of the LED.
Left is original lens, the LED on the right looks better to me.
Led burns only in one direction (without DCC). If its connected correct, LED burns only when loco is moving forwards.

That's a neat idea. What kind of resistor did you use?
I may have to try that sometime. Putting a pair of LEDs on the end of a Tyco streamlined observation car would probably look nice too, although it would probably need two different sized bulbs.

I told the seller wich voltage i use and he gave me the fitting resistor, ask your dealer too. you can also get smaller Leds.

Cheez - looks like a 260 ohm resistor.

Erich, where did you buy them? I bought some "white" LED's on eBay, but they're really blue-white, and look awful as headlights. Those look much warmer, although a little big for some uses.

There is a formula for the type resistor needed. Here is a link to a calculator. http://www.hebeiltd.com.cn/?p=zz.led.resistor.calculator Or google: led resistor calculator.
Unspoken expectations are premeditated failures.
