Check this video of a Market in Thailand in which a real train runs through it Daily. Amazing how quickly the people adapt when the train is approaching. You would never see a market like this in America- Amazing video. English subtitle

The market, the submerged rail, and the the monkeys make that look like one heck of a trip!
Now, if VIA would hire some monkeys to stand by the tracks all day...

I guess real estate is at a premium there. I've seen similar videos from India, but in much poorer circumstances. It's not uncommon to see homes that are just corrugated shacks crowded around the mainline, with very young children using the rails as a bench.

It is very well choreographed, and the engineer can't proceed until he gets a green flag. And they don't have thousands of lawyers waiting to sue, either.

that's awesome! so much different than our large open air markets here in the us!
And some of the farmers' market vendors here complain about not being about to pull up their truck to sell their wares b/c they'd have to unload.
Thanks for sharing Brian.
ETA: Shared this with my marketing buddies. (For those that don't know I work with marketing local foods for state government) Our concern was food safety. Public Health would just fall over if we did that here. It's difficult enough to have anything they call potentially hazardous as it is. But, yeah, public health agencies here in the states would shut that market down very quickly.
