I always knew there was an HO scale Woolworth Box Car but I never knew who produced it. Recently this one sold on Ebay as an AHM piece.. I would like to have a Woolworth car. Back in the 70s, , 90% of my train items and buildings come from Woolworth's in Chilicothe, Ohio... Guess my collection collection will never be complete without it... Judging by the Woolworth anniversary dates, I would figure this item was made in 1978-79.. ANYONE on here know more about this box car, please let me know

Somewhere deep in the archives is a thread on this same car. If I recall correctly, it is NOT Tyco, and is indeed AHM. There is also an AHM Keebler boxcar using the same tooling, which I have. The AHM car is extremely "similar" to Tyco's but there are some dead giveaway differences when you compare up close. Unfortunately these differences are hard to discern in most typical photos.
Also note that from 1975 on, all Tyco boxcars came with filled stirrups... so on a piece with a fairly certain later date such as this one... if it has open stirrups it ain't Tyco.
Either way, it IS a nice looking car though.

Thank You for the input GIC... I knew it was not a Tyco item, but other than that, I had no clue.

You know Micro, if you read closely they will accept other forms of payment, like money orders.
I find if you ask, most will. I hate Paypal...

Hey Mike, Why do ya hate Paypal? I find it handy both buying & selling. They charge a little bit on sales but that doesn't hurt very badly...

I bought this Woolworth Box Car last night at Woolworth's store in Chilicothe, Ohio!! I got it for only $8.50 just a couple of minutes before the store closed. It has box with Woolworth price tag on it. Thank You Woolworth!
