Hi folks. Well, after 30+ years, I'm back to Tyco. My son is finally old enough to run trains with close supervision- he's four and 1/2- and I dug out all my old Tyco stuff from when I was a kid. I'm 41 now.
So I have three c430's- one spirit (blue top, non pres. seal) and two silver streaks, a BN GP20, a few SF f-units (all dead) a clementine (parts only) and a bunch of rolling stock, power packs, track, buildings, etc.
I've got some Bachmann stuff also, acquired through the years. Some SF and one Chessie F's, two U33B's, a GP9, and another GP (forgot the model).
I've been getting things up and running in the past few weeks and we have had a blast playing trains. Yep. Playing. That's what it's is all about to me- time with my son. (Well, I still like it too...)
I'm right in the middle of repainting the three c430's now. All going to be L&N's, 5601-5603. I may have to dummy one of them- PT motor issues- but there's a train show here in April (Gadsden, Ala.) and I'm sure I can find some donor Tyco stuff for a good price.
I also have a good start on an Athearn "collection" (consist?) for my layout- three locos and about 50 pieces of rolling stock. I fully intend to use all the Tyco stuff as yard filler and such when we incorporate everything. But it will all be operational.
Oh, I'm also in the middle of a power torque CD drive motor conversion. I busted my pinion gear and trying to dig through the parts box to find another.
Anyway, I'm just formally introducing myself here on the board-
Marc Golden, Hokes Bluff, Ala.
