[My search is for the black New Haven bay window caboose. I had won one on ebay a few years back. It went for an amout that I couldn't afford. When I entered my bid, I missed the decimal point in my bid so bid $7500 instead of $75.00.

Steve, I have not see a black NH bay window caboose yet. I know with marx a lot of different colors were used on cars. So now I will join you looking for this illusive bay window caboose. frank

Though not a collector of Marx, I snagged this little honey from an estate sale for $5. A drop of oil on the cog and it runs great.
I must say, looking at photos of your Marx pieces makes me appreciate the chunky, simple lines in a new way. Tyco, which has a bad reputation for that pancake motors, but this little Marx switcher I have seems bullet proof. Does Marx have a good reputation for motors??
Love that NH set with the boat and caboose. That boat looks likes it is headed to Connecticut coast for peaceful days of fishing and cruising. Just love it.
Any of you Marx guys remotely interested in this Marx O box? It has some hole damage. Think I will trash it soon.

Those Marx diesel hustler's pulled pretty good. Do you like the way the drive just pops into the body. You can mount a drive to a body in about a half a second. * Model power rereleased the Marx hustler after they made a new drive for it, which didn't pop in and had only one axel driven. It didn't pull much. frank

Well in the last 2 weeks I was able to get at Allentown a pair of mark boxed items. A Water Tower and a Searchlight Tower. This past weekend at the Greenberg show I got a Marx NH F3A, some cars and a caboose. It may have been some kind of a set. Of particular interest in with these cars was a Boat carries car with the Criss-Craft boat. A rare one to find. I have one already that came in a set. * Here is the new boat car carrier : Frank

I did a photo of my Marx Ho power just to see what I have. A picture for my collection. I couldn't find my NYC system in a circle, 0-4-0t. In the photo is the other NYC in a rectangle box. Also not in the photo in my other NH 0-4-0t. It is still in with its set. It is the same as the one in in the photo, black with orange lettering. This may help other collectors so they can see what they look like. frank

With that roof it looks more like a house than a caboose! Of course there's the old adage, "there's a prototype for everything if you look hard enough."

I am an accidental collector of Marx, that is when it turns up in lots I try to hang onto it. "Try" being the operative word as I don't always pay attention to what is in front of me. These are my two Marx cabooses. So the phantom all black NH Marx caboose is like this one, but in black?
I find it rather interesting that one has a rather higher level of detail, including a radio attenna, and the bay window version has relatively little detail. Still, rather enjoy them both and try to get them out to be used as often as I can. They track very well.

Here's an image I got off eBay of the only one I've seen. It was in a 16522 set.
Is the black NH switcher as rare as the caboose?
Dan everything in the set is common except for the caboose. track and power pack show up a lot. It is not offten to find catalogs. I have never seen one. Just little flyers. frank

I just discovered I have an intact Marx two bay hopper in a box that I had overlooked. Now I have a complete Marx set of switcher, two freight cars and a caboose! I would have had three Marx freight cars, but I sent of a yellow Santa Fe to Micro with a bunch of red Santa Fe boxcars, and did not realize it until MB posted a photo of it and Top Train asked, "isn't that a Marx?" That's what I get for sleeping at the switch!.
