Here's a RI caboose in perfect shape that I won on eBay for 99 cents about a year and a half ago. Total was $4.99 with shipping.... not too shabby. It intrigued me at the time because I didn't know they made one this detailed.

* I had somewhere a Marx accessory. It was a sanding tower for a steam engine. It was automated. It had 2 fill spouts. One for a left side track, and one for a right side track. It wasn't automatic. there were 2 push buttons with it ,one for each side. You would stop the engine where it spout was even with the sand dome . Press its button and the spout would lower down and stay till you released the button. It was made of black plastic. It also was lighted, having to small light bulbs along side the sand down spouts. Anyone ever see it.
* edit : I got one now. I posted it on August, 16, 2012. Post #77.

* Model power does it differently. The pilot on the Marx is a part of the drive casting. On MP it is cast with the body. toptrain

Today I got from a friend CHarlie a Marx HO operating sanding tower. I wont have a photo for a few days. For when I was over my friends house, I left my camera there. I will see him this saturday at the Greenberg train show at Edison NJ. He said he would bring it there for me. frank

John : I to think this Model power F 2 or 3 was made from Marx dies. Just they were modified. The Marx front pilot is a cast on part of the drive frame. On the MP it is cast to the body. The 3 side port hole windows was open on the MP. The horn of the Marx is part of the body casting and a separate detail on the MP.
* What you call a Life like F2A unit is a Model Power F2a. The PRR lettering and number is the Model power lettering. THe stripes, oval PRR symbol on the stripes, the loco number are all the same as the ones placed on the Model power Shark nose, FA, and E7 locos. toptrain

Marx I believe had a metal pin embedded in the base, and the truck has two parallel plastic bars which spread apart and snap over the pin, in the middle. If you need replacements, here's what to do :
Model Power has the molds for the old Marx cars, so once I saw that they were the same when I checked my work caboose cars with EXACT same trucks and mounting style, I had to order some. The part number, if you need any for Marx cars, is FCT-8001, that is 3 pieces - the truck with axles, the horn hook coupler, and coupler mounting arm. $4 each assembly.
There ya go. Replacement trucks available from Model Power.

TopTrain, Yea, you are right it is a Model Power F2A. I getting old. The Life like, Model power, and mid life Tyco models were all lumped together in my mind. You guys do amazing things with these models.
I've always considered the old Life like F2A's to be a poor model of an F Unit. The nose, windshield and sides are not very accurate. It is funny I bought one last week after I made the posting. It was advertized as a Bachmann FT.
Model Power made a F3A that was a better casting and it had the same drive train. The hole in the front pilot was to big, but was a easy fix.
Thanks, John

Here is my MARX water tower. Not much else to say about it. Bus, model power has i think all the dies of marx. No reason they shouldn't make just about everything. I would like to see the rocket car and the Boat remade. so from now on every time a marx anything is posted you can come up with your cheesy comeback that Model power makes it.

My search is for the black New Haven bay window caboose. I had won one on ebay a few years back. It went for an amout that I couldn't afford. When I entered my bid, I missed the decimal point in my bid so bid $7500 instead of $75.00.
