Here are a few of my Marx HO F units. I only included the power units. I'm on the hunt for a couple of the B units, specifically the Western Pacific and Union Pacific 's.
This is in my opinion the hardest to find F unit in Marx and this one is NOS and in absolutely stunning condition. This was bought from a hobby shop who broke up a set and had this sitting on a shelf covered in decades of dust.
Another scarce diesel is this WP . I am looking for the B unit for this.
Union Pacific units with plug headlight and operating light. Looking for the B unit for this
NYC units. Both are immaculate
SF warbonnet units. Plug headlight and operating light versions.

A most interesting collection, that yellow NYC F is particular unique. What sort of drive mechanism do these use? I have one Marx switcher, and it runs pretty strong what with the big gear and motor.

Looking at these, it's a pity that since the pilots were separate pieces Marx didn't mount them on the coupler pockets like Lionel did with their O scale F units, thus eliminating the need for the extra-wide opening.

Thanks. Here's a pic of a Gilbert HO drive from a 31039 Missouri Pacific diesel. It's virtually identical in appearance to the Marx chassis and drive setup. The Marx units run pretty good although they are a bit noisy.

I have three ABA sets of the Rock Island. They're pretty common around here. Very nice looking paint scheme. I have the Varney Rock Island ABA also, that's even nicer in my opinion.

I have three pieces of Marx: this rugged little switcher, a NH box car, and a nice NH caboose. I am always impressed how detailed, yet strongly built these pieces are and enjoy them greatly. Just as I would have guessed, your F unit sports a solid looking transmission. What would you guess is the vintage of my switcher? I have no clue.
Thank you posting your images. I find Marx to be sort of a Pre-Tyco, and find it more interesting every time I see it. You must have spent quite some time assembling that fine Marx collection. What got you started?
I hope you post more of your collection, and the back stories. I find myself revisiting this thread frequently.

Your switcher would date to the early 60's up. They're nice running little buggers. There's some tough ones to find in those too. I have most of them but not all.
