Hello everyone.

I guess the first thing you should know is that I am by no means an expert in model trains.
Basically, I'm a teenager who built a 4x8 table, and sticks this and that onto it in the hopes it will one day be a neat little layout.

Yeah, I'm a teenager alright. 16 to be exact. But don't expect me to shove an Ipod in my ears and wear my pants at my knees. That's just not me.

I suppose the biggest help in getting my railroad where it is was my local library. I went in not knowing a thing about how to build a layout, and by the time I took the books back I had a good sense of what to do for nearly every aspect of the hobby.

So why did I get into model trains? Well I guess it's mostly because of my grandfather, who at one time had a 4x8 layout himself, but with those old Marx trains running on it. Sadly, it was dismantled long before I was born. When he passed away a few years back, I got the old defunct train set. It was then that I decided I wanted to get my own set and follow his example.

As for these forums, I've peered over them for about a year now. I usually pick up some sort of Tyco equipment at local train shows, and this site is great for learning it's history.
And it seems like a great bunch of people who love the dinky little cheap trains as much as I do. I don't see the point in spending several hundred dollars on a piece of plastic with a motor in it.

Anywho, I just realised how much I've typed, so maybe I'll stop here.

Lookin' forward to posting some more stuff later on!

MM:

You'll have to look up DaCheez on here, he's your age and also in Canada. What part of Canada are you in, I'm in East Toronto.

Welcome to the forum!! It is exciting to see someone your age take interest in this hobby--let alone any other hobby. Feel free to ask any questions as someone here will have an answer plus.

Welcome to the forums, glad to see you join. Keep working on the layout, that is the best thing about trains the layout is never finished. Even when it is done you will probly change it somehow again sometime down the road.
