Hi,

Since this is here I might as well fill it out. I am 22 years old from Fleetwood, PA(12 miles outside of Reading) and have been colecting since I was born... My dad got me into collecting, I started out with Thomas The Tank Engine and have been hooked ever since.

I am currently deployed to Bum****, Egypt it really exists we have pictures of signs. Being deployed has not stopped me from purchaseing more trains, infact it probly promoted it. Lots of downtime, I have seen all I want to see of Egypt so I resorted to buying trains again. I will be going to Iraq sometime around January for my next deployment with the 56th Stryker Brigade. I signed up to be a Tanker but being in the National Gaurd you rarely get to do you MOS, so I figured here was the closest I am going to get. Well that is all I got for now.

Hi Adam,

Welcome to the group. We got a lot of great people here. I've learned a lot, so set back an enjoy the ride. Maybe you can post some pictures of the trains you pick up over there? I use to be all over the board collecting all scales, but I had to streamline due to space limitations. So HO it is.

Thanks for your service. Be careful over there.

Ken,

Thank You also, I am over here with some UK guys also. We have some civilian contrators that are from there threw a company called HNSI. I don't know if you ever heard of them, they are California based but only hire out of the UK and a few other European countires.

Welcome, former ARNG here, too. We always said the the MP on our brassards stood fr Multi Purpose or even worse, Mop Pusher so I can relate to the MOS raw deals.

Shay,

I kinda knew that when I joined, it was a spur of the moment thing. My brother who is older then me had a recruiter stop over at the house and about 15 minutes before he showed up I decided to join. I was probly the easiest recruit he had... Oh well if I ever see a AT I will get to be in a tank again(Nothing cooler then watching a 120mm tank gun fire, I have to say trains and tanking are in a close race for me), but being deployed doesnt help. I can not lie I like the military alot, they took me places I would have never went other wise. I have seen the Pyrimids of Giza, The Spynx, Valley of the Kings, and a few other places. Also I got my PADI diving, and they payed most of my way. My cost was measly compared to what a tourist would have to shell out to see all that stuff. On the other hand you can have bad times too. Oh well I guess that is life, I know I still have alot to learn. The Guard is changing at least in PA, we have to having the biggest National Gaurd in the country some 20000 troops. We are the only state with 2 brigades 55th and 56th. Hopefully I enjoy my time over there, it is not for everyone I see that from this deployment I am on right now. "But I want to be in a tank sir"

My biggest regret is not doing at least a little full time. My unit was deployed to the first Gulf War shortly after my ETS. Got the news while wooing my future bride at Bible college. I was told that the worst it got for them was having to go to the forward areas picking up inebriated Marines---when they weren't filling tires with sand for a perimeter fence. Oh well, I'm glad for you and the experiences you're having.. Enjoy the ride and stay out of the headlines. Blessings, BC

Welcome to the forum, Pierce.

Thanks for your service, and for sweating it out in that heat for all of us back home. The tanks and the sight-seeing sound really cool, but stay safe while you're deployed.

I hope you find the forum helpful. We have a good group here, and lots of useful tips.
