An older Marx Boxcar with original nonoperating knuckle coulpers. I'm not sure what years this was around.
I posted this early since there was no new CotW posting for last week.

My Lionel side dump car complete with sprung trucks. I put Kadees on it to run it regularly, just to drive the guys nuts at the club.

Shaygetz, Very cool and PRR to boot! Let's not forget the terrific diorama.

Shaygetz, I never thought of it like that but you're right. Maybe the thought was for kids? They are very sturdy cars with deep flanges. You'd have to work hard to bust a step. Bob

Old Marx stuff eh? I've got this old animated reefer, which of course the figure is missing from. I don't run any O scale trains though.

And since the main theme of this forum is Tyco trains, I thought I might share my favourite Tyco car. It's an old project of mine when I was practicing weathering.

August is anniversary time for TYCO for it was in August of 1953 Mantua Metal Products began shipping their new line of RTR trains. While the Little Trains part of new name didnt last, the TYCO part lived long and prospered. So, I feel it fitting to place one of the 1953 production along side of samples of the giant manufacturers of the time, Marx and Lionel

This is a 1953 311-B GM&O (The first use of this stock number. It was later used on the 311-B Illinois Central released in the brown box era). How can you tell its a 1953? The brass brake wheel is a clue to early manufacture, the color yellow, only used in 1953 and 1954 (in 1955 the GM&O color changed to red) narrows it down. But, loop and hook couplers, mounted to the frame, definitely marks this car as being manufactured in 1953! The 1954 cars had the molded on the body plastic coupler supports removed from the die and from then on TYCO used a talgo (on the truck) mount.

Here's one I picked up the other day for a buck. I was thinking it is a Marx, or successor, but I don't know. On the bottom is has #2114. It has metal sprung trucks (not sure if original). Any thoughts??

My other entry for CotW is this 'rake' of 3 BritishRail Intercity coaches. They are a Brake 2nd Corridor, Buffet/Restaurant, and 2nd Corridor. They were made by 'Replica,' and next to my Mantua aluminum Golden State, this is my slickest-looking psgr. train.

Here's a custom piece made by a friend (you know who you are, where are you?) that exactly duplicates the actual, real and scarce Tyco promo of the 60's.

I love that reefer!
Any chance of a trade, or sale Tony?
Here is my offering... I'm not sure if I have this posted somewhere in this forum...

I do have an abundant number of reefers... KRAFT #11173 by ATHEARN KRAFT #11170 by TRAIN MINIATURES KRAFT #11160 by TYCO/MANTUA
I'd love to add yours...

At first, I figured this was pronounced HI-ers... but with the slogan, it's pronounced as "Here's To You" instead.
I stand corrected. My first idea was right. Thank you, Vintage! Something I also noticed... the advertisement was 50 seconds long!

I don't have a one track mind. It depends on the turn-out. "I love your catenary!" Is that a power-trip or just another pick-up line?

Here's an old Athearn (globe?) RPO car. It seems to have been assembled from a kit and painted in...PRR? Both it and the matching coach (which I think I posted a while back) still have their original non-operating knuckle couplers.

I was putting together an old Roundhouse Rock Island caboose, and noticed the slogan said 'Rock Route.' I had always thought it was "Route Rock." Can someone confirm if this caboose is correct, or is it a misprint by Roundhouse---Thanks.
