REFRESHED FOR ERNESTO 8-24-08
This post is in addition to GIC's post on differences in 430 shells. Swapping power torque for the mantua mu is a definit plus in performance. I have done this on a silver streak loco. After removing the power torque assembly, fueltank, rear truck and light bracket.-I installed the mantua mu using all original pieces for front. It will snap into the holes as the plastic power torque mount drive did. I then removed the screw for the wire on the mantua rear truck as well as the power torque rear truck that holds the wire for pickup. Reattach the wire from mu to the power torques rear truck. Use the original screw on the power torques truck for this. . Snap truck assembly from mount and remove the spring-reassemble. This will keep loco level by doing this and does not affect running performance. install fuel tank back last. My silver streak really streaks now with this mantua mu drive in it. while the power torque will run on code 83 track the mantua mu flanges are a little smaller and clear the swithces on my track better than the power torque drives.

Where are the pictures for this? How many have you done? Have you used motors with EMD side frames and switched them to Alco? I think this is a cool idea and want to do it to fix some of my Alcos.
