Two for the price of one. Athearn BM hopper and 40' boxcar from the '60s. Both have sprung trucks. The hopper is identical to one in our first trainset that had a B&O FA7 and nonpowered B with HIFI drive. Happy Mother's Day

My favorite "ribbet counter special", an AHM electronic sound of steam car. I pop this onto a consist pulled by my Athearn C44-9Ws whenever I sense a ribbet counter in the crowd....[:o)]

If the electronics ever fail, here's the fallback! Tyco boxcar with "chug-chug sound." Decorated for Baby Ruth, it has a drum with rocks or something in it that rides on the rails, making a reasonable facsimile of a steam engine sound. I have kept mine in it's new condition in the box, however, leaving the sound effects up to my QSI Maxx Traxx unit.

Here is my Ralston Purina "Chug Chug sound" car. I also have 5 matching reefers to go with it. It looks great going down the track.

| Add a Midnight Special loco and caboose to that Purina unit train for perfect color coordination!

Here is my contribution to COTW. THis is a metal body/wood floor car. It has loopnhook couplers. I am guessing this 1950-60's era. Metal climb ladders on ends of car as well as metal detail roof hatches & sliding metal doors. Screw on trucks and the chassis is cast metal with details. Side grab irons on car are metal also. This was a nice kit who ever built it. The catwalk on roof is metal. Only plastic is hand brake wheel and trucks / wheelsets. They are not definitly made this way now--too bad.

Athearn KRAFT end ice-bunker refrigerator car

The special thing about this car?
In 1982, I bought it. It is/was my first train car kit I ever assembled. Now, how many out there can say they own a railcar with their own name on it?
BUT, I'm not challenging anyone. I'm just happy to put it here in this forum.
Enjoy! [^] John
I don't have a one track mind. It depends on the turn-out. "I love your catenary!" Is that a power-trip or just another pick-up line?

Hey Ken,
Looks like Myrtle renovated yours at some point. Mine looks positively hideous by comparison, BUT it is 100% original!

I want to like the flush-mount logo button that LifeLike used. However it must be said that it isn't as reliable as the Tyco Prestomatic.
I DO like the modeled rear-entry and kitchen area add-on, it looks very authentic. In fact the next, expanded version of the STC will feature this kit heavily modified and weathered to fit for realism. Gaudy colors aside, it's really nice looking.

Not many...but I have a car that has the description of a ex girlfriends occupation on it.

My mom did not like her very much so she told me she would buy me a train set if I broke up with her....I took the deal and have been collecting ever since ![:D]

Cute, Tayco... but was that her real profession or the "implied" one? [;)] [Oops!] nevermind.
Ken - I wasn't implying that yours was not real. What I meant was mine looks terrible, yet is just as factory-original as yours. Judging by the box art I would guess your was made first though.
