For all of you Flyer fans out there, here's a 1950's visit to the A.C. Gilbert factory. The cutaway view of the Pacific and smoke unit is really cool. I wonder if that demonstration engine survives somewhere.

If they could make opertaing accessories that neat 50 years ago, why don't they now?

The automated cattle were my favourite!
Although the "diesel horn" was pretty cool as well. Grandfather to the modern sound decoder? I'd say so!

I think you'll have to move to China.

Neat Video! I remember the TV show but don't recall that episode...

There are some great operating displays still being made... and right here in North America! The one that fascinates me the most can be seen at

Loopy

If you can't fix it with a hammer, you've got an electrical problem.

That is too cool, Loopy. I saw a static model of one of the huge coal unloading piers that used to be in Jersey City at a historical show in the Jersey Central Terminal a about 6 years ago, but this is really impressive. The way those empties descend the ramp is a hoot, and I can't believe all of the cable and pulley detail. I'd love to see what the drive and controls are like.
