Hi Guys,
I got a hair up my butt, and decided to take up my loop of flyer S gauge, and put down a loop of HO track.
I pulled out some of the AHM,LL,Bachmann, and Tyco engines out for a spin.
Most of them ran fine except for 2 PT equipped locos.
The offenders are a tender drive Chattanooga 0-8-0,and a Santa Fe GP20.
After running for a short time the motors smooth out from being quite jerky, then they start to slow down considerably.
I don't think it is a power problem as the lights do not dim,and they still run smoothly.
Does this happen to anyone elses engines?
How do I remedy this annoying problem?
Help! I don't want to put them in the parts bin as they are in great shape.

Many Thanks,
Carl T.

I'm not sure what causes this problem but I've got a GG1 that acts sort of like this. If I run it, stop it, and then start it up again, it doesn't move as fast as it did 2 mins before. My guess is that there would be a magnet or some springs that are wareing out. Tyco had a lot of tiny pieces in there power torques that usually wore out and could not be replaced. That is why you see a lot of broken power torque engines.

I had some that were fairly new and did this. I oiled the center bearing and under gear then ran for twenty minutes at full throttle--no more squealing or slowing. This may or may not work but it is worth a try
