Curious about Pemco prices out there. Came across a Pemco GG-1 that was in original box, very clean amd a nice looking piece. Have no idea what is fair regarding prices for these units. I thought the guy was a little high on some of his other stuff and didn't even make an offer. Can anyone give me an idea of what these go for? Thanks for any help.

Good question OOS. I was at a local train show this weekend and bought some Pemco stuff myself. I like the tie in to Aurora and as a matter of fact, one of the guys freight cars was an Aurora one. -Bob

| The guy was asking $60 for it at the show. I just saw one on ebay at $37 right now. Some of the pricing is all over the place on ebay. I just haven't seen that many pieces at shows I've attended. I'll keep checking this guy. He has been at several that I've been to. The GG-1 is nice looking though.

Assuming you're not a Pemco collector, I'd but the later IHC Premier version, which has dual motors and flywheels. It's a much better performer.
They seem to go for around $70, but I did find one for $35 at a train show and walked away from it, intending to come back later. Guess what - it wasn't there.

| $70, ouch! I thought $60 was high. The $35 sounds a little more reasonable. I might have grabbed it for $35. As for collecting Pemco I have nothing and all I know is what I have read from Tony's resource page. Again it was nice looking.

Here are some shots of a Pemco GG1 out of the box. It really is a nice looking engine. I have no idea of the quality or pulling power. It was made in Tuscan (shown) and green as far as I know. -Bob

I collect Pemco/Aurora and saw this at a train show. I bought it for $35 and I thought that was fair. -Bob

| The Pemcos are much closer to the prototype than Tycos.

| The Pemcos are very close to the AHM/Rivarossi models in design and running abilities. They run very well, their biggest failing point being the plastic drivers they have. Drivers face too many stresses to be made of plastic and theirs---at least the one I owned---chip on the flanges. This can be hard to notice unless one carefully spins the drivers under power. Mine had a chronic derailment problem that I could not figure out until the last one when it derailed and the motor immediately stopped, leaving the chipped flange out from behind the sideframes for me to see.

I managed to come across a pair of PEMCO Alco 430's in L&N markings on Ebay a few weeks ago. The seller was only asking $39.00 for the pair. I splurged and a few days later they arrived at my house. Not only were the locos brand new, the seller installed Kaydee couplers! Not a bad grab for $39.99+ $4.60 shipping!
As for how they run, they are actually pretty good, comparable to an older Life Like. The one drawback is that they are not the best pullers. (Mine strained to move 8 cars on flat track)...though they do run M.U.ed fine so I can pull long trains with them reguardless.
All in all, I am 100% happy with this Ebay catch, and from the looks of that GG-1 in the above photo, PEMCO put in alot of effort.
