Hi All:
Happy Advent for thsoe of the Christmas persuasion...
Anyway, a bit off topic today as I just picked up a little Bachmann PCC Streetcar. I wouldn't have bothered but this one is in the Toronto Transit Comission Paint scheme where I grew up. They were in use in Toronto for approximatlty 60 years 1933-93 and one of the great things is the route sign shows "Neville Park" making it a "Queen Street" car and a route on which I rode countless times!
In Toronto these were always referred to as the 'Red Rocket"!
I'm including a prototype shot of the real thing that happily includes in the background "George's Trains" which you can still find listed in the back of MR magazine and where I bought my first model train engine; a Roundhouse Box Cab at about the time this photo was taken 1970. They are there today still and I'm dropping off some stuff for their consignment shelf this week...

Best, Gareth

I believe thats an Aracadia and not the Chebby II. We used to vacation in Canada in the 60's.

Trolleys, eh?
Mine is a converted Bachmann Brill trolley. I removed the cast on roof details, replaced the walkways, put Suydam poles on it and wired it for overhead/two rail use with a flip of an underbody switch. Sorry, the silhouette passenger profiles were just too corny to change out.[:D]

This is one of my bachmann cable cars. I got them both a couple years ago. They run pretty well for Bachmann.

This is an AHM trolley I have been working on. I repowered it with a Mantua drive from an old metal shark nose. I replaced the wheels with Central Valley 36" wheels.

Knowing your work, Ray, it can probably pull 36 cars up a 4.75% grade too.[:D]

With a little extra weight it might.[:D] With the smaller diameter wheels and the gear ratio of the old Mantua drive (24/1 I think), It runs nice.
