OK, so for this week and hoping all the lazy members actually add something instead of just reading and going on....[V]
I have a 1958/59 Revell F-7A in SF Warbonnet.
Heavy little sucker and it was my first pre-1960 piece. Revell didn't do a lot of production this one of their few diesels:

So how about everybody posts the oldest they have or any pre-1965 say!?
Thanks, G

I've already shown my Post WWII Marklin piece, next in line would be this Red Box Tyco F7 in Pennsy colors, given to me by one of my residents. Don't know how old it is but it's old enough to be in a Model Railroader ad...that's old, man[:D]

Hey Shaygetz:
Always neat to compare headlight and nose profiles on the various HO F-7's don't you think?

Hey Ray, Hubba-Hubba the Marx set. How old?
Shaygetz; Right about the F7 nose and eyes!
I'd like to see GIC start a comparo like his box car thing?

The oldest HO locomotive in my possession is this little bugger, which I hope to finally do some tinkering with early next year"

It's a Mantua-Tyco Camelback 0-4-0, metal and brass from a kit. Loaned from a friend for repair.
The oldest "revenue" unit on the roster is the famous STC Excursion Shark, rebuilt and restored from an early-50's Mantua-Tyco kit:

But it's probably not too much older than my own lone Revell F7, a favorite find from last year's "magic box".

Boy I love the way that thing sounds.

I'm not real sure. I think they were from the early 60s. These 2 were given to me by a friend. They are both un powered, I've been looking for a powered A unit to go with them. I found a Marx UP F3 that I was going to swap drives with the Rock A unit, but the UP A unit cleaned up nice and I just couldn't do it.

Seconded on that Marx Rock Island set! They made some stuff that's laughable at best but that set is BEAUTIFUL.
And I'll gladly do an F7 comparo.... provided I get enough specimen donations to the cause...! [:P] You guys DID read the Tyco F7 guide, right? You have any idea how many other F7s are out there?! [:0]

Well GIC:
I have 4 "7's"
1) Tyco MU-2 SF warbonnet deluxe I think 2) Athearn HI-F Pennsy Tuscan 3) Athearn CNR Green & Gold CNR 4) Revell SF-War-B
Think thats it. I could send an Athearn F7 for the comparo if you don't have one as long as your about to be newborn does not pooh/pee/puke on it! [:D]

Hi Guys. Schrader Brass GG-1 engine that weights over 2 1/2 Pounds. There is not many of these engines around. Mine is #133. It has dual motors and required soldering the pieces together. Runs petty smooth for an older engine.

This is my pair of Tyco Atlantic Coast Line F-7's. They were made sometime in the 60's...I think the powered unit is a couple years older than the dummy unit. They look great, especially pulling my Tyco ACL streamliners.

lololololol. yup. They're really cool[:p] I think I have almost as many passenger cars as I do freight cars...they're not all Tyco of course...actually if you just look at my Tyco rolling stock, I have twice as many streamliners as I do freight cars.[:P] ...now if I only I could get around to finding all the matching engines.[;)]

V-HO,
That's really a beautiful model for its age, and I especially like the box for some reason. Old typefaces and boxes have always fascinated me.
But I can't help but notice, the finish on the body: it almost looks like sintered steel or potmetal. Does brass tarnish that way, or was it made differently back then? The trucks look bright...
Any info about Schrader and why they are so rare?

Hi GIC. The GG-1 shell is cast in Bronze. It will polish up with a lot of work. But, for now I will leave it natural. The truck frames and chassis are Brass. There is no diecast or plastic on this model. That is why it weights so much. [:D] Schrader also made an EP-4 New Haven. My research came with there were less than a 500 units. The Card that came with kit states that it is #00133 made around Nov. 1956. The company was located in Trenton, New Jersey. I think that Schrader was a small manufacturer and went of business due to the cost of making their product. I'm trying to find a Catalog or advertisement for the company. Maybe someone has some old 1950s magazines that might have some info. Carl

Carl, That has to be the coooolest GG-1 I have ever seen! With two motors that thing ought to pull stumps. Just curious, how much would one of those critters go for?
