Nice Consolie you made. I have a Bachmann Spectrum Consolie that some talented KB-er moved the cab from the back to the center to make a Camelback which I love!
What kind of lathe/mill do you use Ray? I have a buddy who has a Unimat that he's not ready to part with. Can't remember if they can cut a thread? Needs a dam whats the term It's a long threaded shaft that runs under the, jeez I can't remember any of this! I can visualize it, it's not the throw or wait isn't it the "ways"?
Can I purchase a good used mini lather thats not made in China. One of the nice things about Vintage HO is that it doesn't help the Chinese ruin the US/Canadian economy AND build Ballistic missile Subs! (Rant ended!)

Romcat The long threaded shaft is called a "lead screw"...it works in conjunction with either a set of change gears or a quick change gear box (depending on what kind of lathe it is) The gears set the speed of the lead screw to move the carriage over the ways at a desired speed for the type of cut the lathe is making.
I believe most Unimats are hand fed...I have never seen one with a lead screw...but Im not familiar with all the models that might be out there.

My LofW is a Mehano 4-6-2 "Tennessean" given to me by a friend for the help I gave him selling some of his equipment on Ebay. Has a special place on my mantle for the time being, a cheerful "Thank You" to the Tennessee Vols for helping my LSU Tigers get back into the National Championship game[:D]

Ill chip in this week alittle. My locomotive for this week could be found in the steam era as well but in Pere Marquette paint. This is a Walthers version and runs great. When they first introduced these there were some problems with the drive. The locomotive wanted to wobble during switching moves and they later offered an upgrade which allowed you to swap out drive shafts. I still have the kit sealed in a bag somewhere because mine never gave me a problem. Anyways , enjoy the photo. A lone amature built the ark! A large group of professionals built the titanic!

I only have a couple prototype pics to share. These are a couple of freshly painted Tennessee Southern GP's that live near me. There's 4 of these used for road switching service in my area. They are ALWAYS this clean!
