Hi Ken. Took me a little while to find it. But, here it is. The engine is part of the "The All American Traveling Daredevil Thrill Show" Train Set Made by Bachmann. I found all the Parts But, the Mat and buildings. I have them somewhere.
The Set consists of the Engine, Flatcar with three stunt cars, a 50' boxcar and caboose. Over the years I found another engine and an extra Boxcar. I also made a flatcar to transport the Drag Cars. I repowered the Engine with an Athearn Dual Flywheel Chassis. The other engine I put in a Dummy Athearn Chassis. With extra Power of the Athearn Drive the Stunts and Drag Racers operate much smoother. The Bachmann Pancake motors do not have much power.
The Train, as it runs around the track activates the two Thrill events. You stop the engine on the activator track. Put it in reverse and The wheels of the engine loads the spring ramp and when it reaches a point it releases the two Drag Cars up the ramp to the Finnish line, where the chutes pop open, the body pops up and a rotating Flag declares the Winner.
The other Activator Loads up the Stunt car and sends it though the loop the loop, Shoots across the track, around the Bank turn, over the track again and down to the Arena area.
Anyway, at first I thought the was made around the mid 1970s. But, I checked all the 1970s catalogs I have, no listing. The Drag cars look like 1980s Ford Thunderbirds. So I figure the set might be made around the early 1980s. I have two 1980s catalogs 1987 and 1988. If anyone has any early 1980s catalogs check them please, as I would like to know the exact year. Carl

Hi Ken. Yes, they have cut outs on both engines typical of Bachmann F units. On my engines. I measured the spot where the Athearn chassis mounting tabs are and it was almost in the exact spot and filed a small slot and the Athearn chassis fits perfectly in place. Also the Athearn super Weight will fit with the chassis into the shell no other Modifications See Picture.

What? 80's Thunderbirds in HO? CURSES! Now I have something else to look for. I have both a "Fox" and "MN12" T-Bird in the driveway, but only the MN12 made it to the layout. Bah.
