Ken:

It's exited the US postal system into the overseas mail, it won't be tracked beyond that. It's the same when I send to say GIC or you.

Good Day Ken;

The number you have is from a United States Customs Declaration Form. If you enter said number in the United States Postal Service Tracking on line tracking service at http://www.usps.com/shipping/trackandconfirm.htm you will get the following message;
“Label/Receipt Number: LC55 0452 347U S - Status: Acceptance
Your item was accepted at 10:44 AM on August 7, 2007 in SCAPPOOSE, OR 97056. No further information is available for this item.”
Which means that a shipment was accepted by the Post Office in Scappoose, Or, 97056 at that time and date. Who shipped it and to whom or where the shipment is going will not be revealed to the general public, not even the receiver! Absolutely useless!
Those of us, like my family and I, that try to use the mail for international shipping are going bloody bonkers… or in my case loopy! A great many EBay sellers have enacted the policy of “NO INTERNATIONAL BIDDERS” which I personally feel is the wrong attitude.
The World Wide Web has made the global economy available to little entrepreneurs like us and we, being greedy, want some of that gilt. However, some governments like the United States have taken the terror threat so seriously that the cost of shipping has gone sky high.
Our answer has been to ship through a third party. We have chosen United Parcel but FedEx or DHL work just as well. However, the cost to the consumer is atrocious.
While not germane to Ken’s concerns, I’d like to note for Gareth’s info that I can ship one pound to Australia or New Zealand for the same cost as one pound to Canada. It’ like saying that I have to pay a premium to ship something from Pennsylvania to New Jersey. There’s something wrong with that this old man can’t fathom…
I’m off my soap box and back to playing with my choo choo’s![^]
