Hey Guys:
Can someone who has an early Athearn F7 shell take a shot of the back end, especially around the coupler box area?
I want to compare the cast detail to the one two I have. The detail is not symmetrical and I want to see if that's normal?
Thanks, G.

This is an early (late 50s-early 60s) shell.
The newer shells are notched higher into the shell to clear the mount and plastic coupler clip. The Globe shells have a rectangular hole for the coupler to go through. I will have to see if I have a photo of one.

Ken:
Mine looks like yours. see the two down pieces on either side of the coupler area. It looks like a piece is broken off on mine and yours but the casting may just be one side longer than the other? Do you think part of the down piece is brolen?

Hey Ken, that is a steam pipe for steam heat to the rest of the train and appears to be similar if not the same over the years on Athearn's F-7 models. All the ones I have from over the years appear to be the same.
