Congrats! I always liked that paint scheme - its far prettier than the orange and black. If the green and yellow is too John Deere-ish, at least the black band is nothing short of classy.

I have parts of a hi-f drive, but have never seen one run. I do have an old Lionel HO GP7 with a similar drive that does run though... it's neat. I like those old belchy motors.

Hey GIC:

It's funny you mention the John Deere paint scheme. Just a few miles from here there's is a guy/gal that works at a community center who has an old Chevy Chevette! remember those!? Anyway they had it custom painted in you guessed it: John Deere colors down to the wheels anodized yellow and the Deere decals etc. !!! I used to have a picture too bad I can't find it! [:D] [:D] [:D]

Gawd bless eccentric people.

You got a good deal on those. Even though I don't collect Athearn or Canadian rails in particular I've always been drawn to this exact Shell/Paint scheme. It's a beautiful pair.

Chessail usually has some very nice items.

Holy cow, you got a great deal. It still would have been a good deal at the price you were prepared to pay. Look like they're in great shape.
