This is an MDC Shay I rebuilt.

My fault Ray:

Been pre-occupied.

Arguably the prettiest locomotive in my collection!

Nice ones, guys.

My loco of the Week doen't exist...yet. I plan to do a 9/11 commemorative GG1 as though Amtrak still ran them. It features the Fireman's, Police and Pentagon seals. Look forward to the day when I can afford to have a custom painter do it.

Hi All,

Well I guess it's about time I put one up for the LOTW.

She is an SD45 from Athearn. It was given to me by my Fiance the other day. It was part of the 10 piece lot she got for $3. It has got to be one of the smoothest runners I have ever had. Now I just need to put on the horn, railing and other misc. and I'm set.

Thanks for looking

Whoa!
Those are some great lookin' locomotives.
The SD-45... plastic or metal trucks?
On the Shay, did you ever have problems with the drive shaft coming apart?
The Conrail GG-1, nice and sparkling. Do you run it with other hoop & hook cars, or do you run it with a conversion car?
And very nice drawing of the Amtrak 911 GG-1. I am looking forward to the finished product! Eventually, I figure that when it is painted, you could have some duplicate GG-1's painted up and sell them.
Are there any model manufacturers who make GG-1's?

John

I don't have a one track mind. It depends on the turn-out.
"I love your catenary!"
Is that a power-trip or just another pick-up line?

I had all kinds of problems with this Shay until I rebuilt it.
I built my own gear box and drive shafts. Timing the powered and dummy drive trains was important to make it run smooth.

I had a thread on another forum that showed the progress as I built this loco, but when the forum downgraded the thread got screwed up.
I plan to repost a thread on the rebuild on another forum in the future.

Thanks, as far as I know, IHC is the only one still making them. BLI offered them for awhile, then of course the Tyco one. Pemco did them in the late 70s early 80s.

Hi Zebrails,

The SD45 has plastic trucks. I'm not sure how old it is but it looks brand new.
