Hmm, I may have shown this one here before way back when, but I'm not sure. Whatever.

This is one of my favorite pics. Ex-Rock Island U25B #234, that was picked up by the Maine Central. But look closely because it tells a story.
The loco is filthy, but the nose is pristine. But the real Rock Island never painted the nose herald with a blue "R". And the "stone" is missing. And what's with the carside? The logo sections are clean, but a different shade of blue, and the lettering itself is oddly colored!
The story goes that after the MEC picked up the ex-Rock U25s, they were quickly painted out, and then painted into MEC (just like the #223 behind it). Then an ex-Rock employee decided to pay a visit to an old friend on the MEC, who convinced the shop to reapply the Rock Island livery onto the #234, the only one that had been blue on the Rock. It wore this "funeral tribute" livery for a year before finally donning the MEC orange and green.

My model is a Stewart U25B. I did the custom paint and decals. Unfortunately the cab with the kit did not have the correct window arrangement, and I was a bit afraid of making the split fron window myself. But overall I think it works.

NIce work Guys, and Ray thanks for getting us started this week.[^]
That Rock is pretty cool despite it not being an Alco. Is this shot on your revised "Red Wing" Gic? Nice crowded urban look.
Here's my LotW for this week. You guys know I love locomotives that are metal like the real thing. even when an EMD. Varney just calls it a "Yard Switcher" it's a composite of SW's and NW's. So from the late `50's like myself and WO further ado:

These are the sellers photo's I'm using that I got this from. Truth is despite getting a nice digital camera recently with some coaching from GIC, I haven't even gotten batteries for it yet I'm gonna do a marathon session soon and photo some stuff. I bought about 10-12 engines in the last two weeks so time to record them...

Hey GIC:
I have an Athearn U-28B in N&W that was made as a run for the South Eastern NMRA region guys. It's NOS/MIB. It's in the original box but had no railings. I got a retail set of Athearn railings for it at that train show in Allentown Todd and I went to, Interested?

Hey Ken;
Yeah it's for sale. What'll you offer? I need to see what GIC says since I first offered it to him above. Shipping to you would be les than 1/2 the previous shipment because of weight but also that Rivavrossi box was a factor because of it's length... PM me and let me know.

Thanks Gareth, but I'll have to pass that one on to Ken. Not a huge GE fan... have a few of them but I've got more than enough other random engines too.

Hey GIC:
Wasn't sure but I thought based on your Rock U-Boat I'd ask... OK, it's Ken's if we can work a deal.

CPRailer - thanks! There's nothing like trying to match a photo to really amp up your modeling skills.
Tayco - Nice haul! For some reason I don't see AHMs MIB too often, but then I don't look very hard (or easy).
I'm beginning to think that the Rivarossi / Lionel / AHM FM C-liner is the most-pimped shell tooling EVER.... I think that's been painted for like every railroad that ever existed... now THAT would be some collection!

Some of those C-liners had a dual drive, similar to the AHM GP18 drive. (the IHC, I think) I had one but it got canibalized.
