Earlier this year, I built a boxcab diesel locomotive body from pieces of a couple of ROCO cabooses. This implies that there were other pieces left lying around. As it happens these could be stuck together into a whole caboose.
 Before I took pictures, I had already pieced together a basic shell. There were parts enough to make one as long as the frame, but I kind of liked the proportions of a shorter caboose. This implied shortening the frame:

Couplers and weight are added to the frame and all the shell pieces are put together:


A coat of primer begins to make the pieces look like they belong together.

Here, the caboose has been painted and the windows are glazed. The cupola windows are left open which looks prototypical enough. The real reason is that the glue holding the weight in place will outgas solvent fumes for some time to come, and is best not used in an airtight plastic car.


It's not numbered or lettered yet. That'll come when I've decided how it will be used.
