Happy DOG DAYS of SUMMER!!
What to use, what to use this week!
OK, this week I''m going to put up my Rivarossi (UP) Alco Ccentury 420. I bought this at a Train only hobby shop in New Jersey a few years ago intending to paint her in LV or D&H HOWEVER (Who says procrastinating doesn't help!?) I just listed her in the Trading Post as I will soon recieve my two reserved new Atlas C-420's (LV and D&H)
Here a Pic:

Whadda ya got guys! Alco's, UP? anything but tell us something about her.
Cheers, Gareth

Ah....mine is both Alco and UP, interestingly, the only UP engine I own. I purchased this online from a gentleman in another forum. It had a sad journey that took me some time to fix. It has a mismatched Challenger tender from the late 90s with RP25 flanges and blackened wheels and handrails hooked up to a pizza cutter 60s model locomotive. Replacing the tender with an era appropriate one cost too much and so I did my first weathering job on a steamer since I was a teen (my first works kept me from attempting it for 30+ years[xx(] ). I also gather Trade topic reviews and original manufacturer ads for each of my beasties as I find them.

The original ad anouncing its release in December '66 Model Railroader...

The Trade Topic review, March '67...

This started out as a Bachmann U36B. It recieved extensive amounts of body work, lots of added details and a scratchbuilt chassis. /tyco/forum/uploaded/Ray Marinaccio/u36.jpg

This is the chassis. /tyco/forum/uploaded/Ray Marinaccio/u362.jpg
Here's a link to how the chassis was built. http://2guyzandsumtrains.com/Content/pa=showpage/pid=23.html

Hi Ray:
I remember reading and printing that article. Why did you have to make your own chassis?

It was a standard trainset locomotive with the pancake motor drive.

Gosh that weathered BigBoy is incredible! And custom-built chassis? Geez, and here I thought I didn't do a half bad job on my stuff. [B)]
Anyway, here's my stock LOTW, fresh from California (finally). This one is an upgrade for me!
The trainset 430 wasn't Tyco's only silver streak:

The Milwaukee Road E7, a revelation in chrome-dipped beauty. Oooh. Finally got one MIB, and it was so shiny you can see my reflection as I took the pic [:P]
I'll be posting these and some other pics of it in the Tyco Motive Power section, "for the record". What's funny is that in comparison, my other specimen with its dull, oft-handled finish, actually looks pretty realistically weathered now. [:D]

GIC, What a beauty that TYCO Chrome Milwaukee Road E7 is! Your pics are fantastic! That is the loco that needs to pull the coming Walthers Milwaukee Road 1955 Hiawatha SuperDome and Skytop Obs!

Shaygetz-Great weathering job! (want to do my Mikado?)[:D] I'm trying to figure out if that 4-8-4 in your first ad is a mis-print or if they are refering to a different loco?
