NEW Locomotive Addition: Lehigh Valley RR FA-1 #542 & FB-1 #531
Yet another pair of new locomotives have been added to the roster: Lehigh Valley RR ALCO FA-1 #542 & FB-1 #531! Both of these FA's are powered, and were manufactured by Walthers Trainline. These ALCO's are not only the second FA models currently operated on the layout, but represent the addition of the 18th railroad seen on the Ephrata Valley Railroad, none other than the Route of the Black Diamond: Lehigh Valley Railroad.

New Locomotive Addition: Pennsylvania RR RS2 #6500
Another locomotive has been added to the roster: Pennsylvania Railroad ALCO RS2 #6500! This locomotive was produced by AHM, and has received all new traction tires to enhance its operation. This vintage Pennsy RS2 is the 4th powered PRR diesel to serve on the Ephrata Valley Railroad.

NEW Locomotive Addition: Reading Railroad GP30 #5515
Another locomotive has been added to the roster - Reading Railroad GP30 #5515! This "Geep" is a Bachmann Spectrum piece, obtained for a fraction of the regular cost on Ebay - and with horn-hook couplers already installed. I've been searching for an HO-Scale Reading GP30 for as long as I can remember, so this is proof of the fact that patience is a virtue. :D

The broken coupler on the Erie is the main issue, otherwise it is
a good runner.
The switcher shell was handy, so I tossed it in the box should

I don't recall the EVRR having a double main, wasn't it a single main with
a passing siding? The two trains pacing is very nice and they glide
along beautifully. Particularly like the coal mine siding- the rails
have that great sunken look.

The EVRR has always had 2 mainlines, and (at one time) had 2 sidings - but the inner line siding was removed when the "new" Ephrata Coal Company was installed earlier this year. The main reason why it seemed that there was only 1 mainline is because I typically only ran 1 train at a time, especially in videos, since I've had issues before with 2 trains colliding in spots due to the limited space of the EVRR trackage. Today, however...the powerpacks were set in just the right place....the locomotives were running at the perfect speeds, and the right cars were on the tracks -- all allowing for 2 trains to operate at once on the EVRR.

Glides like a swan. Excellent photography disguises that his

loco still exists at the Nevada State Railroad Museum in Boulder City, NV
it runs on a portion of the UP line that went to Hoover Dam for building it

I spent some more time this evening sorting through the train stuff I bought last month from my neighbor down the street....and decided to crack open these NOS Bachmann "Tracksters." Cool little vehicles, although both of the ones I have suffer from severe misalignment.
  
I also got the Bachmann Gandy Dancer NOS....runs great!
By the way, I do obviously have the original boxes to all 3 of those. Thought they were great scores!
I was also given several backgrounds new in the package free....so I decided to put one to good use as a backdrop for the Ephrata Valley Railroad. Although it is not as wide as the table and is only nailed to the wall, I think it looks pretty good. I do intend on getting a proper-backdrop in the future that is the right length, and features more autumn trees.

Had some fun on the Ephrata Valley Railroad by running 2 Bachmann Tracksters & 1 Gandy Dancer, which are now a part of my roster. I also pulled out the Gilbert "Lackawanna RR" F9A, that I got from Frank a while ago, for a spin. Please enjoy!

Nice to see the EVRR. That Gilbert is a beauty, and looks
to bea heavy turnout of rail fans on the pedestrian bridge.

Tonight I cracked-open the seemingly NOS LifeLike Blinking Water Tower that I also got in the big purchase last month. I discovered that the previous owner removed the light bulb/wiring, so unfortunately unless I wire-in a light bulb, this water tower will no longer blink.
But, that's alright, because nothing on the Ephrata Valley Railroad is lighted/operating, so I feel it fits in on the outskirts of the layout -- replacing the rather shanty-looking green house.
