Hmmm, actually, I've had this happen on an HO-Scale size with the only steamer to run on the rails of the Ephrata Valley Railroad -- "The Jupiter." The front set of wheels has derailed several times in the past.

This video makes me want to obtain another steam locomotive -- this time, for RETRO TYCO.

That will be great, but not a lot to choose from in Tyco, no?
What were you thinking of and would Mantua qualify on
the Retro Tyco? Intriguing.

Ballast causes problems only when you don't keep the flange ways clear, just saying...

I was thinking about a rather staple steam locomotive from Tyco's production - the "Chattanooga" Choo-Choo! Of course, I have been thinking about Mantua, and technically, a Manuta could run on RETRO TYCO, but.....the jury's still out on that one.

Not trying to sway the jury, but from time to time, Mantua and Tyco were the same outfit. The first HO train set in my life was a Tyco, with the engine being a Mantua.

Neat video Jeff. That amazed me the way that engineer so gingerly operated that hulking machine.

I once watched a similarly delicate operation, in person, and commented on it. A crew member told me that the engineer was using the brakes against the throttle and could more delicately control the power that way.

Brake on throttle, I was wondering how they did that.
