On Friday, this arrived in the mail....

The Smith's Transfer Corporation US1 slot trailer!! This trailer is harder to find, and was won on Ebay for around $18..a steal considering its worth.
On Monday, what could be in the mail? None other than the Tyco HAMMER Nissan slot pick-up truck! This was snagged for about 20 bucks, shipped, and is in mint condition!!

Lastly, enjoy the latest video of action on Tyco Speedway -- TYCO Slot Truck Action #2

After obtaining the Tyco guardrails for "Tyco Speedway," I stumbled across a listing of a lot of used Tyco sticker-flags for racetracks...which the seller dated to 1992. I submitted an offer and ended up getting the entire bunch of flags below for cheap.

They arrived in the mail today, so upon sorting them, I noticed that I got 24 complete flags, and all in fair-to-good condition for their age. Some are starting to come loose from the poles, but that's to be expected after 20+ years or more.

I then was determined to place the flags into the holes already-present on the sides of the guardrails, but that's when I ran into trouble; the bottom of the flag pole could not be inserted deep-enough into the guardrail because of a thin plastic ring around the bottom of the pole. To solve the issue, I simply got pliers and snipped-off the ring ends, and was able to place the flags easily into the guardrails thereafter.

In total, I placed 16 flags, and am pleased with the final pure Tyco result!!

Those that I wasn't able to place I have listed in the Trading Post - if interested, please contact me.
Also, if anyone has any more info about these or other Tyco slot car flags.....as to which sets they were in/when they were introduced, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Yesterday, another Tyco slot vehicle joined the roster....
TYCO Racing Team Nissan Pickup #55!! This slot truck was won on Ebay last weekend for just 14.99, shipped, and has already become one of my favorite Tyco slot vehicles. Please stay tuned for a video of it in action on Tyco Speedway soon.

LOL, thanks Chops!!
Due to working the afternoon-night shift the past 2 days, I finally got the chance to explore the latest additions to RETRO TYCO this morning.
The first is this US1 Dupont Tanker slot trailer!!! These things usually fly high in price...usually in the $40-$50 range, yet, this one was won brand new/sealed in its original package for only about $20 last weekend. I am beyond thrilled about this find!!!

The product of a buy-it-now listing that remained in the Ebay Watch List for over a month....I purchased this Tyco red lightning-stripe Porsche slot car for only a total of $17, shipped! I did switch the front tires out for smaller, more applicable "used" ones, but aside from that and a drop of oil, this Porsche is in mint condition and runs FAST!

I know AFX made semi trucks too but unlike Tyco US1 they ran as race cars not 2 way

Yeah, I've seen some AFX trucks and trailers on Ebay at times...but they just don't have the character, nor appeal, of Tyco - in my opinion.

Got these 2 rather famous Tyco Nissan Slot Pickup Trucks ("Road Reaper & "Grave Runner") as well as the iconic eyeball "ball" that all were included in the Haunted Highway slot set, for only $26.00, shipped. Unfortunately, the "Grave Runner" truck had gear issues, that appeared to have arisen from the former owner trying to lubricate the gears with some substance that melted the plastic teeth on the gears. However, I was able to switch-out the entire rear axle off of one of my other Tyco 440x2 slot car chassis, and now "Grave Runner" is back to running great! Overall, good deal, considering both of these trucks sell commonly for $15 each.

Finding this official Tyco TV Ad for the Haunted Highway set on YouTube is what caused me to take further interest in finding the slot trucks. Pure Tyco Advertising....and a great set, I must say.

Thanks Chops!
Yesterday, these arrived in the mail:
I finally got the A-Team slot van!!!! Although it cost 40 bucks, I still feel that was a good price, since I've watched many A-Team slot vans fly above $40 on Ebay. After installing a pair of new rear 440x2 tires and lubing the gears, the A-Team van took off on Tyco Speedway.

At the outset of last week, I won this pristine Tyco Chevy Blazer slot car, for just $25!!! While not a Stomper, I still am pleased to have gotten this slot Blazer not only at a great price but also in such an awesome paint scheme! Surprisingly, it is quite large compared to other Tyco slot vehicles...it is about the height of one of my Peterbilt slot trucks, and is quite realistic. Ecstatic to have added this slot Tyco Chevy Blazer to the collection!

Stay tuned for a video featuring both my A-Team train set and slot van in action, on RETRO TYCO!

Today, I received this - Tyco's Crane Loader accessory!! It is in perfect operating condition, and a little bit of cleaning has rendered it in practically mint condition. I got it for just 13 bucks, shipped on Ebay! My Tyco locomotives were moved back a little further on the platform in order to provide adequate space, but I just knew I had to place it on a prominent spot of RETRO TYCO.

Plus, since I had another Tyco stakebody-like tractor-trailer, I figured why not add it to the Crane Loader scene (since one was offered in the original set!)

Very pleased to have added another awesome Tyco accessory to RETRO TYCO....now I just need those skinny glow-in-the-dark culvert pipe sections... Does anyone have any spares?

First of all, this morning I won the Tyco Log Loader Operating Accessory (mint in box it seems) as well as the Pine Hill Logging Co. Tyco gondola, all for about $11, shipped on Ebay!! Can't wait until it arrives...and hopefully it works.

ALSO on Ebay, I won some hard-to-find Tyco US1 slot trailers over the past weekend at great prices....they should be arriving soon, so stay tuned!

Thank you Chops and Microbusss!
That's awesome busss - congrats!
Chops, I believe you're referring to Cox's "Big Pine" Train Set (photos below credit to Google Images.) Tyco made only a gondola that was labeled "Pine Hill Logging Company," as the train set in which it was featured was named "Big Logger" - and yes, there were other versions of this set.

Well I'll be darned. This is one of the reasons I like Tyco so much- just when you think you know what's what, even more comes along!
One has to wonder if there was some kind of competition going on between the two firms.
I own a few Cox pieces, including a log car, and I have been pleasantly surprised how nicely they function. The one Cox locomotive I got is a sweet running piece. The log car has never given me issues after many revenue.

I'm not sure if there was competition, and maybe it's because I'm biased, but Tyco's "Log Loader" accessory is way more awesome than Cox's Crane Car.... But, I'm sure that Cox locomotives are more reliable than Tyco's PowerTorques.
Yes, busss! I actually discovered that in watching a mini-documentary on the accessory on YouTube.

Bekins trailer NEW in package - $20

Thank You, Chops! I agree, the Tyco US1 Electric Trucking line of products was quite extensive....
On Saturday, this arrived in the mail - the Tyco Crane Loader Accessory, practically mint-in-box, as well as the yellow Kenworth truck w. trailer and Union Pacific gondola with the scarce thin green pipes!!! Everything was won in an Ebay auction for about $20.00 shipped, which was well worth it.

Upon cleaning the UP gondola and pipes, I officially put my Tyco Crane (the one I obtained for just 13 bucks over a week ago) into action and it worked perfectly in loading those green pipes! I really am excited to have now preserved another one of Tyco's great manual operating train-accessories on RETRO TYCO!

The other items that I received in the latest Crane Loader set have been listed on the Trading Post.

First of all, I would like thank James (Highwayman97) from the UK for his genorosity in freely sending me these awesome Tyco US1 slot trailers!!!! I've been searching for a P.I.E. trailer for a long time now, so this is a dream come true. Thanks again, James!

Yesterday, the following arrived in the mail - Tyco's Log Loader Accessory, in great condition in original box, as well as the Pine Hill Logging Co. gondola with 3 logs!!! I won this on Ebay last week for only $11, shipped, and after a little bit of cleaning, the Log Loader was working, and looking great!

As this is my only Tyco Pine Hill Logging Co. gondola...I did not know Tyco wrapped the logs in a small cardboard package, along with the car. Interesting.

This accessory is manual, however, the button is really an air pump, that pushes the bulldozer which then pushes the logs into the gondola below. This Log Loadin' dozer is really an awesome accessory, in my opinion, and one of Tyco's best.

To install it on RETRO TYCO, I did have to remove one of my Tyco tunnels, and put the Piggyback Loading/Unloading Ramp in its place. I also solved the problem of too much exposed "airpump" black tubing by drilling 2 holes in the platform near the Log Loader, and fishing the tubing down into 1 hole and up out of the other to then re-attach to the base of the Log Loader, effectively concealing the rest of the tube. Once again, I'm ecstatic to have added Tyco's Log Loader Accessory to RETRO TYCO!!

Yesterday, I received the Tyco Operating Ore Dump Set with Nite-Glow Ore, practically mint-in-box, in the mail -- after having won it on Ebay a few days prior for just $15.00, shipped!

And, here are the contents before I started playing with them.

Ultimately, I settled on placing the "bin" full of Nite-Glow ore in the space between the 2 tracks on the right-front of RETRO TYCO....a formerly barren area. I'm not only excited on obtaining this set for having gotten the unique glow-in-the-dark ore pieces, but also the Pennsylvania RR tipping hopper.
Another simple, yet magnificent piece of Tyco history preserved on RETRO TYCO!

Robert,
Thanks for poting and sharing all these wonderful accessories with us. As I think you know, I have come into Tyco via US-1, where cousins of some those accessories also appeared.
The main difference was of course that with US-1 the drive was taken from the truck itself, revving away against the stop block, whilst sitting on rollers that transmited the power to the accessory.
What I would love to see is how the Tyco Train versions were powered, so if you or anyone else here could take and post an image of the internals of the crane or bulldozer, that would be really interesting and much appreciated.
A couple of months ago a chum in Idaho acquired a Life-Like tracking station for me. Amazingly the motor that drives that is much the same as US-1 trucks, my Ideal Race'n'Chace stuff (Knight Rider etc) and most amazingly the Hornby 00 Gauge Thomas The Tank Engine!
The other clever thing about the Tracking station is that despite having a DC Motor, it is set up to run off an AC Supply. Using Half Wave - Faller, Rasant and Ideal all did that with some of their HO slot cars.

I fell in love with that glow in the dark gon when I found it at a train show. Maybe it's sheer coincidence, but the fact that it is lettered (only?) for PRR gives wonder if it was a play on the Three Mile Island, PA mishap.
Nuclear energy is an abundant source of energy, but wow, when those blow they really blow.

Yeah, the Nite-Glow "glow-in-the-dark" pieces are something! Hmmm...possibly, Chops....although that PRR tipping hopper was also included in the Operating Gravel Dump Car Set.

James,
First of all, thank you!! And, you're right - Tyco did modify some of its train accessories for the US1 Trucking Line...such as the Crane Loader and Log Loading Bulldozer.
Here's the photo of the underside of the Tyco Log Loader Accessory....the button is actually an air pump that when hit, sends air through the tube that effectively moves the bulldozer.

Later I'll grab a shot of the underside of the Crane Loader. Stay tuned!

Robert, Thanks so much for posting that image. I have learned a great deal from this, including understanding what that mysterious little button is! I have often seen it in pictures, without knowing how it worked!. Good old Tyco, really made it simple, cheap and ingenious. I guess that the only potential issue is likely to be the effect of A.D. on the plastic bellows? I am always amazed by how well my US-1 accessories work. Whilst people love seeing the crane and the bulldozer working, as they do all the US-1 accessories, the one that really gets an oooh! is the Airport! James

No problem, James...and I agree, Tyco certainly was both cheap and awesome in its accessories. I hope that A.D. doesn't effect the bellows....
And, yeah, I've seen that US1 airport on Ebay - it looks awesome. Too bad Tyco didn't make something similar for its model train line.
Thank you, WKS!! For the past year or so, I've not really added any new locomotives or rolling stock to the Horseshoe Curve Branch Line....but I'm sure my interest in it will revive soon enough.

Interesting to see your remote accessories, RP. I have never purchased any of them but always nice to see them... My favorite would be the U.S Post Office /box car...
