Here's my LOTW offering:

A fulfillment of my aspirations, Tyco's second-rarest RF-16A "Sharknose" diesel locomotive, Northern Pacific RR #272, will soon be added to the roster! I was literally blown-away to find this rare Tyco locomotive at the January train show, and its price astounded me, resulting in an immediate transaction. The Tyco Company released the Northern Pacific "Shark" in its 1982 catalog, where it only was produced for a year, and then disappeared into the folds of Tyco's final years of HO-Scale train production. Therefore, I consider it a privilege to have even seen one, much less now proudly operate it on the Ephrata Valley Railroad.
After replacing the dry-rotted traction tires with new "Goody's Hairband" traction tires, and lubing the PowerTorque motor with Liberty Oil, Northern Pacific RF-16A #272 now runs smoothly in hauling 7 cars with ease, on the inner line.

Now that I have obtained the NP Sharknose locomotive, I only have 3 more individual road-name Tyco Sharks to go, before my collection will be officially complete!

Looks good in that livery, as in "there should have been a real one" good.

An attractive station. And speaking of attractive; to me, all 3 types the PRR used that boiler for are attractive, the G5 there, the H8 Consolidations, the E6s Atlantics. If you don't have it already, look up a 1962 book by Alvin Staufer, Pennsy Power: Steam and Electric Locomotives of the Pennsylvania Railroad, 1900-1957. Quite nice.

Thanks Barry - I appreciate it! And, I agree, southwestforests, it would have been awesome if Northern Pacific RR really did operate a Sharknose.

Whole lotta European going up so far, which is fine by me, anything on steel wheels of interest. Or, could be a Green Theme, as threaded by the Shark Master, 3 shy from officially finishing his collecting of Tyco Sharknoses. Having no such ability to concentrate, I am veering to the other side of the Atlantic for this Tri Ang Compound. She was running erratically so I wiped off her drivers, and zoom she was off again. Here pulling a three axle milk wagon.

It is nice to see other N.P. Sharks swimming in the water. I think I have had this a little over two years now, and as hard as it was to acquire, it is not even in my top 10 favorites. Personally, it is the hardest shark to find, this and the S.F. shark. I have has a few opportunities to purchase a S.F. Shark but every time one came around, there was something I wanted even more so I put it on the back burner. of course there are some metal sharks for the early 60's and they are hard to come buy, not like the two I mentioned though. You can also see I found the TYCO N.P. caboose to bring up the rear of my consist.

Keeping along with the theme... a Stewart/Kato F3A, NP #6003A. This is actually part of an F3 ABA set (6003A/B/C, all powered) but everything is stored away in cardboard boxes, this loco was the closest to the top of the box so this one got the photo. I also have some matching Athearn NP passenger cars but they are buried underneath a lot of stuff.

Nice engines this week. I must admit that I am partial to the NP. Something about the two-tone color really strikes me.
Here is my LOTW, a Kato F7A Baltimore and Ohio. This engine has some really good pulling power.

| Yes they do, the Kato drives outperform everything else I have even on a single loco, and they also have that awesome whoosh sound when they move away rather than sounding like a miniature vacuum cleaner, or buzzing and sparking at 3 amps while trying to pull 3 cars like an old worn out Athearn. :)
