As I have been unfortunately experiencing the Microsoft Jet Database error "80004005" lately, which blocks me completely from accessing the forum for 24 hours at a time, I wanted to post up my LOTW offering, for the new week, early.
I am excited to state another new locomotive addition to the locomotive roster of the Ephrata Valley Railroad: An A-A pair of Tyco "Red Box Era" Chesapeake & Ohio F7's #8015 & #8016. The lead "powered" A-unit was obtained at the January Greenberg's Great Train Show, in Oaks, for $20.00, while the trailing dummy F7A was found on Ebay 2 weeks ago (as a powered loco, which I dummy-ized upon receiving) and snagged before a bid could be possibly placed. As the powered C&O F7A lost its originally fine horn due to my error, I sacraficed a yellow horn from my B&O F9, which is awaiting a dummy before it gets its debut on the layout -- so that I could use the C&O F7's immediately. Hauling an 11 car train load (the 11th car being the corresponding Tyco C&O caboose, also found at the train show), these 2 F7's certainly perform well, and continue to prove Tyco's slogan that their trains were "built for a lifetime." -:)

In case you were wondering, the "JET database error" comes from the way the site is built. As far as I can tell, it was originally built on a Microsoft IIS server that's not really intended to run an entire website, and will crash when too many users (us) try to access its "database" (the whole of Tycoforums) at once. I don't know what resets the error but it seems to do so automatically about once a day. Either way, this is my dad's theory about it, I don't know crap about this stuff but he's a web developer and I asked him once what he thought the error was from.

Ah! That makes sense, PRR 4800. .....I had researched it before too, but the solution was incomprehensible (even to a proficient computer user, as I would classify myself.)

Nice cars everyone. Those C&O engines look great.

Those C&O F units are sharp looking. I had no idea about the reversed colors though. I learn something new every day on this forum.

My LOTW is a recent find. I found a cheap battery powered O gauge train set at the thrift store the other day. Only $7. The pieces look very similar to the stuff that Toystate used to sell. The caboose and boxcar wete fairly generic, but the locomotive was quite diffferent. It appears to be based off of a German design, and is actually halfway decently detailed. I think Ill make a few cosmetic changes at some point. Its a shelf model for now, and not a half bad shelf model at that.

* Both are stock Tyco paint schemes, I wonder which is the Odd one. Maybe one was for a passenger set and the other a freight set.
* Andrew, It looks more French to me then German, But you cound be right.

My first "foreign" locomotive. Just won this Liliput 4-6-0 loco. Anyone know where I can find any paperwork for this loco? Would like to have a repair manual before I start trying to restore it.

Yes it is Athearn, customized. I bought it already modified at my local LHS. Side bell, spark arrestor exhaust stacks, plow, ditch lights and even tyco 4301 number boards...

* Congratulation Sean, The New Haven EP-5. My brown book shows it made in 1974 by Alco, Cat 3 E-114, and it originally sold back in 1974 for $98. New Haven motive power in western PA has just leaped ahead in quality. may it run forever. You can see in the photo the disintegrated foam in places. I just cleaned up an Alco U-33C that was much worse and only got it to where yours is now. frank

* This is a different type of Lilliput 4-6-0 then I am used to be seeing. Here Americanized and Austrian versions were sold. They were different and had a square box between the two domes. I have no idea what it was for. As Ken says it is a Swiss version.
Here is one of mine. frank

This model is made out of plastic. The number on the side of the loco and a symbol on the side of the tender are embossed gold metallic foil. Does anyone know where I might find the diagram for assembling/dis-assembling this loco? Hoseeker has the larger loco diagram.

Do you plan on painting it? The McGinnis era paint scheme would look really flashy on this model but Penn Central's black would be easier to apply.

Oldtimer, It is liliput alright. And like catfordken says a Swiss model. The number on the cab in gold is correct for this model. It is 504 and not 604. I think it is a pre SBB, Swiss federal Railway loco of the Gotthard Railway. I could not find a good photo of that particular loco. You ought to clean it up and take some photos of it cleaned up. The removal of the screw through the steam dome, (the closest one to the smokestack) will remove the boiler. BE CAREFUL FOR IF YOU HAVE A TENDER THAT HAS A SPRUNG DRAW BAR YOU CAN LOSE THE SPRINGS. THAT SCREW HOLDS THE FRONT PILOT AND MAYBE THOSE SPRINGS IN PLACE. The screw also passes through a nose weight so putting it all back together can be a little challenging. Also dusty as it is it can use a go servicing, and don't test it till itis all cleaned and oiled. frank

Great. Thanks Top. Will keep a sharp eye out for springs and other little surprises it may have in store for me. Just re-checked on the number. It IS 604, maybe this is a mistake for this loco????

Old timer, here is a link to a collector site where a very small photo, a thumbnail, of your loco can be seen. It is #504 there.
http://www.tcawestern.org/liliput.htm
This is another place to look to find your loco. I cant find it there.
