Gonna start this week with a loco that I've been working on for a LONG time. Its a Hobbytown EMC7 A&B unit. The body, frame and truck are by Hobbytown but the power is by Athearn. Wasn't geting very good performance out of the DC91's that came with them so I decided to try to mount some Athearn motors. And the performance is really outstanding.
Athearn motor mounted.
It is not as noisy and starts moving at about 4 volts. Runs really smooth and only draws 1/2 amp.

A little closer up.

Neat re-motoring job, how about a thread on how you made the modifications please!

I just received this nifty Western Pacific GP20. It is in need of front handrails and couplers but otherwise it's in pretty good shape.

I'm planning to do that, but I'm thinking of using the Tyco wide vision caboose. Just to be different

Ok all. I am working on a step-by-step on the re-motoring and will post it under the Customizing & Kit-Bashing topic.

Well done oldtimer! I would have never thought of mounting an Athearn motor.

My LOTW is this Gilbert. 31017 C&O ALCO DL-600 from 1958. They made another C&O in 1960 cataloged as number 31022 that included a bell ringing mechanism.

Great locomotives this week, guys! Toptrain, nice A-B set of B&O Sharks!! - I actually have an A-A set of the exact same, Model Power/ROCO RF-16's. :) Great re-powering job, oldtimer, and bad71burb, that Gilbert C&O Alco is stunning! Redwoods, congratulations on obtaining the Tyco Western Pacific GP20, as that is one of the rarest locomotives to find! (I believe, right along with the NP Sharknose, Santa Fe Sharknose, and GM&O GP20.)
This school week has been filled for me...but now, I've finally found the opportunity to post my LOTW offering:
If you all recall, I obtained an engine & dummy pair of Tyco "Red Box Era" "Blue Bonnet" F9s at the train show last month, for only $10.00. However, once I arrived home, I noticed that the dummy F9A had a chip in the back of the shell. So, I swapped the unpowered trucks with the powered locomotive's shell (which was a better used condition), creating a dummy "Blue Bonnet" F9A which will be placed into service soon, on my layout.
