On the way home from the Roanoke museum, I had planned to hit some model train shops along the way. After the shop in Staunton ( found some Bl-2 shells, and a Lionel HO gang car ), driving back to the Interstate, we passed this old coal trestle and plant, the building was sold. I hope they keep all the parts intact! Neat place! Had to take some pictures, the trestle still has 4 coal units hanging underneath, for storage I imagine. Glad I could get some good pictures of it. So here they are...

Roadside shot of the trestle

An angled view of the trestle and old plant.

A close-up view of the coal bins and door opening mechanism.

A better view of the old plant.

I love this old mechanic's wall of tool silhouttes.

Some old history here in Staunton, VA for sure. Roanoke is the big Railroad town, but Virginia has lots of railroad history to offer elsewhere, as you can see. I had to stop and get some pictures of this place, too good to pass on.
