I have some Sampson passenger cars that have a light corrosion from being in their boxes for all of these years. I've tried a fine wire brush, but it only removes part of it. Anyone have any suggestions as to how I can remove more? Need to get rid of as much as possible as I will be using a gloss enamel for painting.

I need to get some of that stuff too. I have plans for these Sampson Rail Cars too.. I have a pair of powered Sampson Rail Cars from ~1950. They made then for two years, 1949 and 1950. One has a full windshield, one has a split. I am not sure which is which. I would like to get both so I can say I have both years. Right now, both of mine have split wind shields...

This next one was the first one I purchased shortly after learning of their existence... (Thanks to Mr. Jim Heckard)

I was doing some research last week on Sampson and thought I remembered reading that the bodies were made with magnesium. Were they actually aluminum?
Edit: This is the old catalog I saw. Check the bottom right.

After checking, I stand corrected on the aluminum. They are extruded magnesium. I went to an auto store and checked up on the oil. It will remove the corrosion, but leaves a protective coating which would cause problems with painting. The guy there suggested this stuff:

I tried it and it really did the job. got rid of the corrosion, and did a very mild etch of the surface which will make the paint adhere better.

I was just going to comment on the Sampson cars. My two both have a huge amount of corrosion, which my trusty AutoSol doe a poor job on. I'll have to see if the Eagle One is available here Evan
